7/19/43 Daughter's letter: "Our pastor, Mr. Allen L. Bowe,
introduced us to the work of Mr. Edgar Cayce. We are greatly
interested in this work and are seeking physical aid for
my mother, Mrs. [
4085]. I am giving you a picture of her
condition, and if you feel that Mr. Cayce might help her,
she'll be delighted to become an Associate Member in this
organization.
"[
4085] has what is known to science as Parkinson's Disease
(paralysis agitans). This is a progressive disease of the
central nervous system. The symptoms are: tremor, slowness
of movement, stolid staring face, head and body bent forward,
and hesitant speech. The treatment she has been receiving
consists of short-wave treatment of a portion of the spinal
cord, osteopathic treatment twice weekly, vitamins and
Bellabulgara.
"Would it be necessary for Mrs. [
4085] to be in Virginia
Beach for a reading, or might she remain at her home in ...,
Pennsylvania? We wish to do that which will bring the very
best results...
"Please address any further communication to : Mrs. [
4085]
..., Pa.
"Please send one copy of 'Edgar Cayce, His
Life And Work'..."
10/28/43 Daughter's letter to EC: "Would it be possible for
Mrs. [
4085] to have her physical reading very soon? She is
scheduled to have it in April, but we fear that might be too
late. I thought perhaps there would be a cancellation in
your schedule and that you might be willing to fit her in.
My mother, [
4085], is in the hospital now, recovering from
a flare-up of Parkinson's Disease. For a while, we did not
expect her to live. Now the doctor thinks she will recover
from this attack, but he says other attacks may follow and
any one could take her very suddenly.
"We will appreciate anything you can do to speed up her
reading..."
4/10/44 Daughter's letter to EC: "Mrs. [
4085], whose reading
is scheduled for April 14th from 3:30 to 4:30 EWT, is now in
the ... Hospital, Washington, D.C. I am uncertain where she
will be at the time of the reading, but if not still at the
hospital, she will be at my home, ... Washington, D.C.
"The questions I am submitting for her reading are as
follows":
1. What causes Parkinson's Disease?
2. Can the disease be cured? If so, how?
3. If it cannot be cured, can it be held in check? If so,
how?
4. Is Parkinson's Disease transmissible? If so, how? What
preventive steps should be taken?
5. How can the mental cloudiness and confusion accompanying
the disease be relieved?
6. How can control of the bladder be regained?...
4/13/44 EC's wire to [
4085]'s daughter: "Wire exact address
where mother will be at hour of reading."
4/14/44 Daughter's wire: "Mrs. [
4085] will be at ...,
Washington, D.C. at hour of her reading, Friday 3:30 to 4:30
EWT."
REPORTS
7/24/44 EC's letter to Mrs. [
4085]'s daughter: "In answer to
your request of July 20th, we enclose herewith a copy of your
mother's physical reading.
"Since such copy work adds to the already heavy burden of the
office staff, there is a charge of $1.00 for this copy.
"Hoping that we may be of real service..."
12/13/44 Daughter's letter to EC: "I am enclosing $1.00
which I have owed you for some time for a duplicate copy of
Mrs. [
4085]'s physical reading, which was given April 14,
1944.
"I am afraid we are not giving Mother the Wet Cell treatments
correctly because we find the directions hard to understand.
I am afraid we are not attaching the plates to the right
parts of the body. The directions for the attachment of the
large nickel plate are very clear. They read: 'Each day
the large nickel plate, through which the Solution passes
vibratorially, would be attached to the lacteal duct and
umbilical plexus, which on this body will be the width of
four fingers from the navel center to the right and three
fingers up from that point.' Then the reading says 'When
using the Gold Solution, the small copper plate would be
attached to the 9th dorsal plexus.' Where is that found? We
have been counting up from the bottom to find the 9th rib.
Should we start counting from the top? The reading goes on
to say, 'When using the Silver Solution, attach the small
plate to the brachial center.' We have been attaching it
to that hollow place in the neck between the collar bones,
believing that to be the brachial center. Please tell
me whether we have located the 9th dorsal plexus and the
brachial center correctly.
"Please note the change in our address..."
12/18/44 GD's note: I sent card referring her to Dr. Lulu
Irene Waters.
