7/01/28 Wife [
459]'s letter:
My Dear Big Buddy
So you do know that I am & have always been thinking of you
- guess you know also that I've had my hands full with the
"Rabbi". Oh I've tried & tried to bring him up to what I've
always held as my ideal. Perhaps there is plenty lacking on
my part. He evidently thinks he will never bring me up,
too, so again you must step in. I can't talk this over
with anyone except you & [
325]. They don't understand.
The family is growing large & one must be cautious.
Let's settle this once & for all for there are so many things
that need attention & these seemingly unimportant things to
[
4159] are big things in my life. For instance, he airs out
all his ups & downs concerning the family in the presence
of the ... ["Joneses"]. I haven't been reared that way.
I take into consideration that he comes from different
environments but even so with his education & his association
of past 7 1/2 yrs he should have that much common sense.
That's our main problem. Then, with the children he uses
his modern psychology & I want to rear [
1856] and [
2444]
according to our rearing. I don't think the rest of the
family are so bad. I'm the only black sheep. I had to
rehash that reading of 7 1/2 yrs ago & I take inventory &
really [
4159] has not improved very much in the one main
thing that I want him to be and that is kind & considerate to
mother [
325]. He never inquired about Aunt [
125] when mother
returned & that hurt me. How can I show him these things.
When I do he resents it. I think you can see pretty well
without me telling you. Mother said she was talking to some
one in her sleep when I was considering calling you at 2 A.M.
David called at 12 Monday nite & I said you had left for
home. [
4159] phoned at 11.30. Well next morning I debated
with myself as to whether [
1856] should go and [
1856] not
wanting to go. I said alright but I reconsidering it. At
10.30 when you sent the wire we were telling [
1856] good
bye. The wire came at 5 P.M. Wasn't that WONDERFUL!! Gee!
I'll have a lot to talk about - when you get here. Now if
the reading is not worded in detail as it should to cover
this just adjust it. The main trouble is this one thing -
UNCULTURED. His career will come, but the Saying that you
can't acquire culture but Education can be attained surely
works out here. He hasn't changed in this one thing that I
can see. No cultured person would put themselves subject to
the gossip of ["Joneses"], am I right?
What will my children be with their daddy as an example. For
instance he will tell me in front of [
1856] that I always
fight with [
1856]. [
4159] doesn't believe in spanking, yet
when he wanted to drive home a point with [
1856] he spanked
him but disapproved of me spanking him. Now how can you get
along with one like that. Well, perhaps the reading will
bring this out. Ha! I don't "welcome" that step but I
am serious. Love & more love. You know that I am always
interested in you. Lets get this boy settled one way or
the other, as I say I can perhaps SELL HOSPITAL STOCK if the
other doesn't play [?] out to suit me. I hear you saying
SELL BOTH. You are a pearl - I can't get over it. [
257]
will rejoice with us. Can't wait to tell him. I'm not
telling him about this reading - only you. He won't
understand for he has lost patience with [
4159] long ago.
Perhaps you can bring him back but [
4159] just isn't what a
minister should be. He doesn't practice what he preaches.
Yes, his lessons are inspiring - got 59 new members. All
running nicely except [
4159], and I am going to give him a
run - once & for all.
Again I send love & more love - as ever, [
459]. I'd love to
see you all - soon I hope.
7/03/28 Rabbi [
4159]'s wire: "My dear friend - since you
gave reading before married stating [
459] superior to [
4159]
I heard naught but that tho bent to please her and family
and tho she never tries to meet even part way - altogether
stubborn - must come to reason things out sensibly for
happiness. Wire my expense what you have done."
REPORTS
7/11/28 EC's letter to [
4159]'s wife, [
459]:
Dear [
459]:-
I enclose the information gotten this morning. Have been so
very busy I haven't been able to get to this before. Hope
the delay has not caused you any worry or anxiety. I wish
it had been possible for both of you to have heard it. Then
you could have been better able to ask questions as they
presented themselves to your mind from the information given.
It's a hard thing, you know, for someone else to attempt
to ask questions on such conditions, even where they may be
presented; for, naturally, we all approach such relations
with fear and trembling, knowing only too well that sometimes
a word here or there may change the whole life of an
individual at such times.
I'm sorry indeed to know that these things have arisen.
[
4159] called me over the phone. I was not here. Gertrude
talked to him. He wired me the next day. I haven't written
him, for I haven't known just what I should say. I will try
to write him, though I feel it would be better if I could
talk with you both in person; though I don't know whether one
ever has a right to butt in and say a few words unless they
are asked - but, as you know, I feel that you are both so
near and dear to me, I'm always glad and anxious to do or say
anything that may make conditions better, or shall I say,
conditions more nearer as they should be.
I hope you both will let me hear from you again. You know if
I can be of help in any way I'm only too glad to try and do
so.
Please remember me to Mother [
325], and give my love and
regards to the rest also - and with love from all.
Ever the same, Edgar Cayce. EC:GD

7/20/28 Wife's letter:
Dear Big Buddy -
Your recent letter received & I want to tell you how very
much your reading helped. It was about time that we looked
out for ourselves instead of just being of service to our
community. I felt there were many things for improvement
around our home and there is no time like the present.
As for the change already I need not tell you for you can see
all without me telling you. You've since proved that your
work has developed so that you see things without necessarily
"reading." [
4159] thinks as much of your advice awake as
asleep & you know how I always have felt about you.
However a little later we will take a reading. I feel if
this one characteristic is remedied it will mean that your
reading of years ago is about to be fulfilled & a great
change since last 2 weeks. How are all you dear ones. Come
to see us real soon & excuse this scratchy pen. You gave a
wonderful reading & both [
4159], & I appreciate your kindness
more than this scratchy pen can say.
With Loads of Love to yourself & the folks, ever your Liz [?]
[
459]
Use this for smokes. Be sure it is purely personal. I will
write you or see you about the best policy in raising money
for the hospital. We know some very wealthy people out
here - folks who live here but are New Yorkers & they
are financially able to help.
We have been busy raising money to pay for our new Temple
but all will work out I know.

325]'s letter: "All is well with them."
