3/07/32 David E. Kahn's letter to EC:
FEDERAL WOOD PRODUCTS CORPORATION
The Lindburgh case will be absolutely a pick-up for you not
only in bringing relief to the family, the child back to the
family, but you will be made for life as there is $10,000.00
awaiting anyone who gives them the proper lead.
In addition to that, Bill Starling told me over the telephone
that you would gain for yourself a friend who would go to any
limit for you.
I am going to telephone them this afternoon and see if I can
get through to Lindburgh, so the request will come direct to
you.
I have just had a telephone call from Major Lamphier. I am
meeting him at 5:30 so if you get an urgent call, come
quickly if you are able and I hope for your sake that you
will be, because it will be the end of your troubles.
I am sure that even in the face of a national calamity of
this kind, God Almighty has a reason for it. It may be that
He has made this occasion to show you and us His real power.
There will be absolutely no publicity. The work will be
given in a private place, probably in the home of Major
Lamphier who is the closest friend to both Lindbergh and Col.
Breckenridge. The latter is a Kentuckian.
I am sending you a check for $25.00. Little as it is, you
will have this in your possession to cover your railroad fare
to New York in the event you are called suddenly.
With kindest regards, believe me, as always interested in
your welfare and happiness.
Sincerely, [signed] Dave
