7/10/54 Dick Eckenrath's letter to Albert E. Turner, re his
efforts to trace people born on
4/22/05, to check on 4227-1,
Par. 2:
I want to turn in my badge as private detective since I am
a complete flop. As I told you I could not get the birth
information from the Phila. records and was only successful
in getting the records from Media and Norristown. I only
turned up three names in all that were born on April 22,
1905.
Mildred Rhodes, 30 E. 2nd Street, Media, Pa. (Father Frank
B. Rhodes, Mother Mary Roberts)
Annie Fritz, Warwick, Pa. (George, Mary)
Nellie Scrno, Moogitown, Pa. (Anton, Lettie)
The communities of Warwick and Moogitown have long since gone
and I could pick up no trace of the families.
Rhodes family in Media was my best bet but I have at last
given up hope of locating the family. They moved from Media
and from talking to older people in the neighborhood I had
plenty of clues but all proved that people's imagination
can be stimulated to unwarranted heights when harping back
over the years. Of course no one knew what I was after the
information for so the experience did not harm - except to
make me lose my confidence in myself as a private eye.
What do you think of enlisting some of the newspapers here
to help trace down some of the people born in Phila. on that
date?
8/17/54 Letter from THE EVENING BULLETIN, Phila., Pa., to A.
E. Turner:
Dear Mr. Turner:
Your letter of July 31st addressed to Mr. William L. McLean,
Jr., has been turned over to me for reply. You probably had
not read in the newspapers that Mr. McLean passed away on
March 10, 1954. I took your request up with our Bulletin
Library and they informed me that they know of no list of
names and addresses of people born in Philadelphia on April
22, 1905.
Yours very truly, [signed] R. D. McGee, Auditor RDM/ch
