6/17/26 (Thursday) GD's ltr. to [
4256]:
My dearest [
4256]
Well, I hardly know how to begin. I surely wish I could sit
down and talk with you awhile, for I feel I could do that
lots better than I can write. Anyway, I'll do the best I
can.
I know you have been wondering why you haven't received the
reading. We were to take it yesterday, but a very urgent
case came up that just had to be attended to, so we had to
delay it until to-day. Sister and I both were very sorry
about it, but we couldn't help it. We have it at last
though, and I do hope you will be able to follow out each of
these suggestions so that you will be entirely well.
Now listen, [
4256] you take this reading to Mr. Moseley, at
Varnon's (I believe it is), and he will get up all these
medicines for you. He will give you the powdered elm bark,
and you must put a few pinches of it in every glass of water
you drink, with a little ice in it too. You will probably
get awfully tired of it and will want to have one good drink
of water without it, but just the same you want to keep it
up.
Then you get the Yellow Saffron and make it into a tea.
Mr. Moseley will probably tell you exactly how to fix it, or
might even fix it for you, but it isn't any trouble to fix
and you can do it yourself - I'm sure "Grannie" could make it
for you. You get the Yellow Saffron and fix it just like you
would regular tea.
As for the senna - this is a kind of herb, But Mr. Moseley
will fix that up for you in the quantities necessary. Just
show him the whole reading. You want to take half a grain of
this for five days, then one grain for five days, and then
one and a quarter grains for five days. If you begin to get
too sick at your stomach, you can stop for a few days.
Then the olive oil - you'll probably know how to take it -
just as much as you can take and as often as you can take it,
so that it won't become rancid in your stomach. See?
I forgot to say - Dr. House heard this reading, and he said
you should take a teaspoonful of the Saffron Tea every
morning, and a teaspoonful at night. That is the quantity of
that to be taken.
Now, Honey, all this stuff won't cost but a few cents, but
you are to take them all along at the same time - that is
different times during the day, but all at the same time.
Then, too, at the SAME time, and as soon as you can get it,
you are to wear this Radium Pad. That's what will cost
something! The heavy pad like you need costs thirty
dollars, but they will send it to you on a trial for thirty
days. If you don't like it you can send it back, but I know
it will do you more good than anything. I'm enclosing a
letter to them, ordering the pad, so that you can send it on
to them right away if you wish, and I'd advise you to the do
that. You are to wear it on the different places mentioned
in the reading, and let it lay in the sun a few minutes each
day, so that it will be recharged. You see, the pad is
filled with Radium, and it HEALS. I'm sure it's going to do
you all the good in the world.
Now, [
4256], if you don't want to, you needn't tell any of
the doctors what you are doing, until you are good and well,
and then you can show off. But I wouldn't take any other
treatment of any kind while you are following this, for you
want to give it a fair trial. You know I have more faith in
these readings than anything [
4256] and I just KNOW you are
going to be entirely well if you follow this exactly.
While you are taking this Senna, you probably won't feel like
being at the restaurant, as it is going to make you sick, but
[...] can manage some way until you are well, because your
health is worth more than anything, and you can soon get it
back by following this.
Sister just left for home. She says she is going to write
you to-day, so you'll hear from her too. We surely did enjoy
Louise's letter that we got yesterday.
Tell Harry we are expecting him to be here before very long.
[
4256] you and [...] out to take a vacation and come to
Virginia Beach. You could have a nice rest (by having a good
time), and I'm sure [...] would like it fine here.
You go about at once through to get these things to-gether
and begin your treatment.
Write me about it - tell me what you think of the reading,
and I do hope you can follow it all out. It isn't any of it
hard to do - only it takes a little of your time to bother
with all these at once.
Give my love to Louise and the chilluns, and everybody, and
with heaps for your own dear self, I am always
Your devoted friend, [signed] Gladys

Selma, Ala.
Dear Mr. Cayce -
Words can not express how much I appreciate the reading you
gave me. It's wonderful, I couldn't have told you how I
felt, as well as you told me in the reading. I had worried
so much over my condition, but now I feel so different, for
I'm sure I'm going to be well again.
People every where are praising you for the great work you
are doing. You are wonderful helping so many people.
Thanking you for helping me so much.
I am your friend always, [

Dear Mrs. [
4256]
We were very glad, of course, to have yours of the 23rd. It
is just such reports as yours that truly makes the work worth
while, and to have received three other letters in the same
mail as yours, from as many different parts of the country,
all expressing practically the same thing, naturally it makes
us feel good; still it makes us feel the greater
responsibility to humanity - but, too awaken the hope in the
hearts of those who have been suffering is truly a wonderful
work. I am sure, if you will follow out consistently the
suggestions that have been given, you are going to be WELL.
We shall appreciate hearing from you from time to time, for
we know that you are going to be more enthusiastic than ever
when you feel the improvement coming.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
