10/25/28 EC's letter to [
4349]: "Yours of the 21st just
received. Your reading was only mailed today. I'm glad I
can say it was mailed before I wrote this letter. I don't
blame you for feeling that there must have been something
entirely wrong with the operations of the office here. I
assure you it was certainly not our intention to have such
delay in the matter, but the great number of requests that
have been coming in, combined with the business of having to
look after the building that is nearing completion, having to
be out of town on business regarding this work and the
financing of same, and not being well myself, all these
things combined has made the delay. There is no excuse
though, for my not having written you personally, notifying
you of same, but I am in hopes you will overlook this at this
time. That's what we are attempting to do, is to systematize
our work through the offices of the institution, and through
the Association. This will be done in the very near future
I'm sure.
"I'm in hopes you are going to find it possible to be with us
on the 11th. I think you will find there are special rates
for the occasion. I would like for you to meet and know some
of the men that are associated with the Work. Hope you can
hear the man who is to address us at that hour, and most of
all I would like to know you personally.
"The data we sent you should have explained to you just the
outlay of membership, etc. Possibly it is not clear enough.
Twenty dollars is the membership to the Association for the
first year, which includes with it a reading, and all other
readings during that year are ten dollars each. After that
time the yearly membership is fifteen dollars and ten dollars
for each reading. I think this is set forth in the data. If
you haven't this, we will be glad to send it to you.
"Hoping to see you on the 11th, and trusting this explanation
is satisfactory, and that the information may be of service
to you..."
