(Q) What can be done to relieve the stiffness in elbows,
wrists and knees, also jaws?
(A) This, as we see, is the production of conditions as
have been described and given in the body. By giving the
properties in the system, keeping those, much the general
condition as we have given, then applying this:
Give manipulations, osteopathically and neuropathically (that
is, correct where lesions are in such a condition as may be
corrected, and massage where lesions are such as corrections
and impingements cannot be corrected until the body is
relaxed), every other day, and every other treatment, or
after every other treatment, massage well into the spine
(whole length, arms, limbs, around the joints) those
properties of Balsam of Sulfur, taking also this:
To 1 pint (8 ounces) [(16 ounces) - See 4358-2, Par. R5] of
distilled water, add 12 grains Chloride of Gold, with 20
grains Bicarbonate of Soda. The dose would be beginning with
2 drops, taking once each day, preferably in evenings.
Gradually increase from 5 drops (one each day) until 20 drops
are being taken. Then skip one day and begin with the 5
drops, gradually increasing until 20 drops are being taken.
Skip again. This will assist with the other properties as
being taken, and will assist in the eliminations in system.
Necessary that when this is being taken there is an
evacuation of the bowels each day, though necessary to take a
cathartic or enema, preferably enemas of oil would be taken,
giving the properties of oil as is found in Usoline, Nujol or
such natures, or as would be found in the combination of
Magnesia and Petroleum Oils, or Petrolager in any form.
(Q) Will an operation be necessary on any of the bones of
this body before it will be able to walk?
(A) Not if the suggestions as given are carried out.
(Q) What foods should this body be fed to obtain best
results for a speedy recovery?
(A) Green vegetable foods. Only fish or fowl as meats.
Preferably all vegetables that grow above ground rather
than those below ground.
(Q) Can the bowels of this body be made to function
regularly each day without the aid of cathartics or syringe?
(A) Not until we get the system functioning more normal.
Best that these be kept but changed from time to time by
taking of the proper lubricants for the system, without so
much of the cathartics, using enemas of oil, or high enemas
of oil and water, changing from the Nujol or Usoline to Olive
oil, taking olive and other mineral oils as lubricants and
foods for the system, all the olive oil the body can take,
without producing a retraction, or without becoming rancid,
would be well for the system.
Follow these out. Be consistent, be persistent with the
suggestions as given, and we will find we will bring the
better conditions for this body.
We are through for the present.

My dear Mrs. [
4358]
I beg your pardon for not answering yours of the 9th any
sooner. However, I've been unable to get to this before
this morning. I'm certainly glad to know that you feel
that you're improving and I certainly am in hopes that
the enclosed reading will prove of a great deal of benefit
and help to you, and I believe, with what you have already
gotten, that the added suggestions at this time will prove
very beneficial.
Thank you for your attitude towards the Work and your desire
to contribute towards same, for as you understand we depend
entirely upon the good graces of those whom we try to be of
service to, to contribute sufficient to take care of myself
and family, besides the two assistants that are necessary to
have to obtain the readings.
I'm in hopes, then, that this will prove the means of your
gaining your normal health. Will certainly be very glad to
hear from you from time to time.
You will please fill out the enclosed form and return as
soon as convenient, for we desire, as investigators, to keep
as clear record of results, whether good or bad, that are
obtained in every reading we send out.
Hoping this finds you feeling a great deal better, and with
kindest personal regards.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

REMARKS
(You will please state in the space below how near, in
your opinion, reading fits your condition, as you know it
yourself, and if you expect to carry out the suggestions
made for the improvement of your health.)
I think this reading fits my condition pretty well, as I know
there are impinged nerves in the upper dorsal region. And
I aim to carry out the suggestions just as near as I can.
Should I go on taking the medicine I have been taking or
should I stop it when I begin the new reading.

My dear Mrs. [

I want to thank you very much for your cooperation with the
Association in returning your form. I'm glad to know that
you seem to think the reading fits your condition and that
you intend carrying out the suggestions as are made. I am
quite sure the suggestion for the medicinal properties is
to be kept up, for as I understand the readings, the first
quantities that you were to take of the medicinal properties
were to prepare your system so that same would respond to
the other treatments. Hence the eliminations would be much
faster by the combination of the two treatments, and I'm
certainly in hopes that you will be greatly benefited by
these, which I'm sure you will be.
I want to thank you also for your contribution towards the
work of the Association. I'm certainly in hopes that you'll
let us hear from you from time to time, and you know if we
can possibly be of service, we desire to do so.
With kindest personal regards,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce,
Am writing you in regards to the prescription I am to take.
I will copy it as you have it. To 1 pint (8 ounces) of
distilled water, add 12 grains Chloride of Gold, with 20
grains Bicarbonate of soda. The dose would be beginning
with 2 drops, taking one each day, preferably in evenings.
Gradually increase from 5 drops (one each day) until 20 drops
are being taken. Then skip one day and begin with the 5
drops, gradually increasing until 20 drops are being taken.
Skip again. I understand it that 1 pint is equal to 8
ounces, but I think it is a mistake, isn't there 16 ounces
in a pint, and which should I use 1 pint or 8 ounces and how
long should I take 2 drops or should I begin with 5.
I have tried the Epsom salts for the pain and it is fine.
Hoping to hear soon from you as I am ready to begin this
reading, and should I keep on taking the medicine I have
previously been taking in first reading.

Mrs. [

Dear Mrs. [
4358]
I have yours of the 5th. In this prescription, this should
be 16 ounces distilled water, 12 grains Chloride of Gold,
with 20 grains Bicarbonate of Soda, then taken as you have
outlined. The dosage would be, beginning with 2 drops,
increasing the dose 1 drop each day until 20 drops are being
taken. Then when you begin after skipping the day, when 20
drops is taken, begin with the 5 and increasing 1 drop each
day until the 20 drops is taken, then begin over again the
same way.
I'm certainly glad to know that you are getting some results
from the use of the Epsom Salts packs. Yes, you should take
the internal medicine, all of it, while you're taking the
other treatment.
Hoping this will prove a satisfactory explanation, and that
you will get results from following out these suggestions,
trusting you will let us hear from you from time to time.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce,
Dear Sir,
I received a letter a month or so ago from the investigating
association wishing to know how I was getting along, but at
that time I couldn't tell how the medicine was going to work,
but I think now it will give splendid results. If everything
can be carried out as suggested, I am not financially able
to go to a hospital, or place where I could receive the real
osteopath treatments. My mother give me massages the best
she can, but I am improving. I am getting stronger in my
back and arms, also legs. Really I can feel I am gaining
in strength and flesh in my whole body. I am taking the
medicine as directed all the time. I raise up on crutches
and can tell I am getting stronger in my legs can bear
more weight on my feet than I could before beginning the
treatments in last of April. If there was some charitable
institution not so far from here that would give those
massages as suggested that I could go to? I know I could
get on my feet again. My mother does the best she can by me
considering her condition she is most 63 years old and does
all her house work tends chickens and milk and helps me all
she can. She is not very well and has a weak wrist so I
consider I am doing pretty well under the circumstances. But
I am ever hoping and praying that I may be well some day. I
sent your name & address to a cousin of mine who is suffering
from diabetes pleading with him to let you make a reading for
him. His name is Mr. [...] at Everton, Mo. From this on I
will try and write you once each month letting you know how I
am progressing. I never had to use the Epsom Salts poultice
but once it did the work. I remain Mrs. [

Mr. Edgar Cayce

Dear Sir,
I will write you again. It has been some time since I wrote.
I am feeling very well considering things. At present I am
having hay fever, not suffering any but quite annoying. My
back has quite an uncomfortable feeling, it just itches all
over. The entire length of my spine and from shoulder to
shoulder have been that way for about two or 3 weeks. Have
just received a new bottle of Balsam of Sulphur and began
using it didn't know if it had anything to do with it or not
just feels like a parasite under the skin wiggling and the
surface skin at times feels like it is cracking open but my
skin isn't the least bit red or pimples on it just smooth. I
just began on a new bottle of blood prescription. Since last
wrote you I had an awful narrow escape of blood poison in
my left foot caused from cutting a toenail too short. I
suffered a good deal with it but am all right now. Lost my
toenail but is all healed nicely but took about 10 weeks then
during that time I had scarlet fever in a light form. Did
not go to bed for it. But think I am holding my own well.
I am gaining in strength, can get along much faster & easier
with my fancy work. I am planning on going to St. Louis
to the Baptist Sanatarium about 1st or middle of May as a
charity patient. Do you think this advisable. I thought I
could get along faster. I can't get your suggestions worked
out other wise. If you wish to make another reading it will
be all right. I am in same place. Good bye.

Mrs. [

My dear Mrs. [
4358]:-
I'm in receipt of yours of the 25th, and as you will notice
from the letter, we have changed the base of our operations
from Dayton, Ohio, to Virginia Beach, Va., where we will
eventually have our institution, as has often been given us
in our readings. I'm very glad to hear from you, and to know
that you feel you are somewhat on the improve, though I'm
sorry to know that you are being troubled with hay fever -
rather unusual for this time of year. As for the itching,
the Balsam of Sulphur may have something to do with this.
However, I believe that you will realize this is rather a
good sign, though it may be somewhat annoying, for it insures
you that the circulation is being improved. Now, if it can
be only directed in its proper channels, why it would be
very much better. It'll be mighty well to keep up that blood
prescription that you may not have any eruptions or abrasions
from this increased circulation. I am very much of the
opinion that your stay in the sanitarium would be very
beneficial to you, and if you are so fortunate as to have the
physician who would cooperate with what you have been doing
for yourself, through these suggestions, why I think it
would be fine. At that time, I think we should have another
reading; or, if you desire that we make it right away, why
we will make the appointment and see whether this would
be necessary or not. I'm also sending you, under separate
cover, a little pamphlet concerning our work, which I hope
you will find interesting and helpful. I'm sure you will
gain from same the full intent and purport of our efforts.
Hoping to hear form you again real soon,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Sir. Am writing you again about making the reading.
Guess just as well make it now. I written about going to
the sanitarium, but they didn't think they could [do] my case
any good, wrote like they only used medical practice there,
but in their advertising they claim they use the best
scientific methods of treatments. I told them my trouble was
in my joints but none was rigid. They said they thought my
case was past medical aid, but not even ask me to come
for examination. I think the reason I was turned down was
because I would of had to been a free patient. It was the
Missouri Baptist sanitarium, supported by the Baptist of
Missouri. I am very sorry about it. I have been feeling
very well since I wrote you last. I had to quit the Balsam
of Sulphur on my spine it seemed to effect my nerves. I use
it on my joints allright. I am still taking the Chloride
of gold also blood medicine. I have such a time getting the
blood medicine I never can get two bottles fixed alike. They
either want to leave something out or put something in as a
substitute. My head feels dull in the back part sometimes,
and my nose seems to be stopped up. I have three decayed
teeth I think ought to be pulled but I can't get my mouth
open wide enough to pull one jaw tooth. Seems like my lower
jaw is back farther than it ought to be. I can't bite my
front teeth together at all. Do you really think that I can
get alright again. You are the only one that seems to take
any interest in trying to help me. And nobody but me and
my God know how I appreciate it. I feel that you are trying
to fill God's commandments in helping the poor, the sick and
afflicted. Warm weather is now here. I was building great
hopes in getting along fast, this summer. I am so much
stronger than I was when I first begin to have you make
readings for me. Can you see anything in the future for me
but invalidism. I so long to be on my feet again. I would
be willing to go through most anything to get on them. I am
ready for the reading to be made. Guess I won't get to go
to the hospital yet. I will hope to do the best I can for
awhile but I have warm weather which will help a lot. I am
enclosing a dollar for part payment.
I thank you a thousand times for what you have already done
for me and may God bless you.

Dear Mrs. [
4358]
Replying to yours of the 1st, we will take up your case again
about the latter part of this month. I am sorry that this
finds us so well dated up, but we will get this at the first
opportunity. I am sorry to know that you were not able to
get the advantage of the treatment at the hospital, but we
are certainly very much in hopes that we may be able to be
of some assistance to you through the reading.
Assuring you of our desire to try and be of some help, and
appreciating your position and condition, and trusting we
may be of service, and hoping that you won't feel we are
neglecting you, on account of having to put this off, with
best wishes and kindest personal regards,
