Edgar Cayce Readings, 4548-1

GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
Now, we find there are abnormal conditions with this body. We find there are conditions abnormal that to this body at present are normal. These may not be corrected - these may be assisted. Those conditions abnormal for this body may be corrected, as we find them here.
Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body. First:
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good in many respects, yet the nerve tension under which the body physically labors at times produces the inability of the blood supply to remain at a normal condition, through the necessity of the blood supply to create more of the leukocyte in the system than is common or normal. This keeps the vitality or the ability to restore or to build the normal resistances for the body. Hence there are times when the body not sick, not entirely incapacitated; yet with that dullness, that overtaxed condition, and the body finds that self forces self - through sheer will force - to carry on, and after a time this condition seems to gradually wear off. However, the body will find that by the continual using up the system in this manner, will within time bring detrimental conditions to the body, unless those corrections are made that will enable the body to store energy, as well as force self to use all that the body can create within self at present, for with so much used forces there is the creating of the ash, as it were, of used forces that will become as dregs to the system, and create that tendency toward that of the neurasthenic, or the rheumatic, or of the arthritic, or of the opto-arthritic conditions; for these, as seen, are the reactions from an impoverished blood, and of an over strained and taxed nerve system.
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM of this body, [4548], we are speaking of, in this we find the body very good in many respects; yet is the usage of same to the extent that the body will not continue to respond unless those conditions are relieved wherein subluxations in the cerebro-spinal nerve system may be re-inhibited, as it were, by the blood supply, and thus give the better proper incentive for the whole nerve system, for, as is seen where there occurs those conditions that are normal for the body but abnormal for others, this is taxing, and this impoverished blood causes the contraction of the nerves that, as it were, do not appear; yet the incentive for their contraction occurring produces in that portion of the extremities that contraction action which is as irritation to those points so healed that the contraction re-occurs in the system. This brings the corresponding reaction in the whole cerebro-spinal nerve system, especially from the lower portion of the dorsal region, through the lumbar and sacral. Hence in the lower end of the left nerve of the complex nerves from locomotion, there comes the tendency for the constant pull, as is seen in those conditions that cause distress to the wound.
IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS OF THE BODY, in these, these are good for the physical condition, for the body being high-minded, self-will forces and keeps the body near physically fit, under the strains existent; but with the correction of subluxation, with the fulling-up of that reflex from the nerve plexuses that will give the more perfect coordination in the functioning organs, the body may retain more vital forces for the body.
Then, to meet the needs of these conditions - for, as we see, there are MANY minor conditions existent, such as that in the sensory system, wherein the body finds the eyes, the ears, the feelings of the body, become dulled at times, as it were, in their response, and again super-sensitive, as it were, and the body will necessarily need these corrections that these conditions may be normal. Same is seen in throat, in bronchials, in digestion; yet not organic, nor of any save the reflex action from condition in blood supply and in nerve system, THROUGH that of a subligation in the lower dorsal and lumbar regions.
Correct these through manipulation, osteopathically given. Necessary that about thirteen (13) such adjustments be made, and wear during that period that of the Double X Radium Appliance across the lower portion of the diaphragm, for the radiation should come from the solar plexus to the frontal and lower portion of their radial plexuses, or locomotion plexus.
Massage the lower portion of the left limb and across the sacral - about once each week - with equal parts of olive oil and tincture of myrrh. Heat the oil and add the myrrh - preparing only sufficient to massage this portion of body at the time, being about an ounce and a half of each, see?
Well, too, to produce the proper healing in the end of wound, to occasionally use as this:
Take one (1) ounce of plantain (root and leaves) and three (3) ounces of fresh cream - only the cream being used. Put these to-gether and reduce to half the quantity by steaming, or by slow boiling. Massage the wound end with this about once or twice each MONTH. See? This may be preserved and used when necessary. If there is trouble or irritation, it may be used oftener.
Do that, as given, and we will bring the better conditions for this body, [4548].

(Q) Shall the body keep wearing the limb while these corrections and applications are being used?
(A) To be sure! These are only taken when the body rests, you see - that is, the application for the limb to prevent the nerve contraction, this is when the body is to rest. Those for the healing properties on the limb, only as the body is ready to retire, see? and these will harden and will heal, and will prevent soreness and irritation - for this is what they are for, you see.
That is all the questions.

BACKGROUND

GD's note: Mr. [4548] was just beginning to get about on an artificial leg after an amputation.

REPORTS

5/18/62 GD's note: Mr. [4548] followed the treatment with great care, as his wife was a nurse and interested; he responded beautifully. He told his nephew, who told me several years later, that EC described his feelings better than he could have done himself. He was in touch with EC and reported good progress, though we have no correspondence in the files on his case.

Dear Sirs:
At the request of my nephew, [...], I am giving this statement in connection with the reading I received in 1934 [5/30/27].
At that time I had gone to various doctors for a sore wound that would not heal. As a last resort I went to see Cayce and asked for a reading. I was acquainted with Edgar Cayce's father and mother, in other words, I was living on 34th Street while his house was on 35th Street, right in back of mine.
Mr. Cayce was booked up for 30 days, so after this waiting period elapsed he called me saying he was ready to give me a reading. I was present in the room when Edgar went on a trance-like state, and Gertrude asked him if he was ready. He said Yes and gave the reading.
He went to explain that the left limb had the left side nerve exposed. He recommended me to go to see an Osteopath for a 13 series treatment. I asked him to recommend me a good doctor and he said Dr. Bright [S. H. Bright, D.O.].
Dr. Bright after examining me, commented that I was not in need of the treatments, but that I needed a solution of 20 Mule Team Borax on that exposed nerve. This I did and it was healed!
Twenty four years later, I developed some soreness in the same spot and I decided to use the same treatment, that is, Borax and next day a scab was formed. It worked! but I must say it is a painful remedy (specially when used in excessive amount...it burns!)
