6/21/33 EC's letter:
My dear Col. [
4830]:-
No doubt you can imagine just how busy we have been for the
past week. However, I wrote to Gray Salter a few days ago;
in fact, the very day I received your reading. It certainly
is a shame for anything we feel is so worth while to be
butchered up as this report is, yet I know we have no right
to condemn anyone for it except our own selves. I know Dave
did the very best he possibly could, but anyone seeing or
reading anything of this kind could not help but feel that
it is a lot of hoo-ey.
I hope you have heard from Salter long before this, as I
asked him to write direct. I trust he has already sent the
appliance. Sometimes he is rather dilatory about answering
his mail. He is like many of us, quite efficient if once
started. Be sure and let me know about this. If you haven't
received it, I'll jog him up as quickly as possible.
Well, our Congress, I feel, was a decided success. We
had several very efficient and worth while speakers. Our
audiences certainly could not be complained of at the time or
place, for we had on each occasion almost every one we could
accommodate. It isn't always the great numbers that we
may interest, especially in a work of this kind, but rather
the quality of interest shown that is worth while. We are
certainly not trying to set the world on fire, but I believe
much good will come from this meeting.
I do hope you will have the opportunity to visit our little
place again. Edgar Evans received the stamps. I'm sure it
would have done your heart good if you could have seen him
enthuse over them, as he has done ever since they arrived.
No doubt you will hear from him direct, in his own way. I
appreciate the courtesy.
That we may have you on our list and not fail to send any
of the data in which you might be interested, I am asking
that you sign and fill out the enclosed Active membership
application and return. The requirements of our
organization, as well as of the Corporation Commission,
are that we have a signed application from each and every
individual to who we distribute our literature from month
to month. I feel that you would possibly be interested in
having the little data we are able to send out each month.
It will keep you acquainted with what is going on, and -
of course - will enable us to have the advantage of the
suggestions I know you are capable of offering from time to
time, about conditions that you wouldn't know anything about
unless you were in touch with what is being done.
Hoping this is in line with your wishes, and that we may hear
from you, I am, with kindest regards,
Every the same, EC:GD
