This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of March, 1931, in accordance with request made by her son - Mr. [...], through Mrs. [255] and brother-in-law, Mr. [53].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, those conditions that surround same here - Mrs. [4982].
2. Now, we find there are many conditions that disturb the physical forces of the body. These have been of long standing, and are the product of improper eliminations from the system, and the results of improper administrations for the conditions that existed where effects, rather than causes, have been treated, or applications made for turning those forces in the system to that where they become of such a nature as to form disorders that, hardening or performing those functionings within themselves, produce those accumulations in the torso and in the system itself.
3. In the pressures as these produce, these become strangulating to portions of the system, as affect - or are affected by - the blood supply, through the defects caused in the accumulations in the system from these disorders.
4. We would find that these may be removed, will the body RESPOND to the applications that may be made for the setting up of eliminations in nearer a normal manner; else these will of necessity be an operative condition, but we would PREPARE the system, even for such conditions as THIS; for will the body respond, the operative forces would not be necessary. Would the body not wholly respond, we would find that the whole system would be so clarified and cleansed as to make operations, were they necessary, to be more safe, in the abilities for the blood supply to coagulate properly, as well as to build that plasm that would make for the replenishing or rebuilding in system necessary to meet the needs of such distresses as come from this condition.
5. In meeting the condition, we would begin first in the matter of the diet - that has a great deal to do with the conditions. These should be particularly those that are easily assimilated, that are non-acid producing in the system.
6. Then we would begin also with castor oil packs at least three times each week (of an evening we would give these), across the LIVER area, see? Following these it would be well to use the Epsom Salts solution - saturated solution and packs made from dipping cloths in same - over the lower portion of the abdomen (that is, opposite the bladder), as well as over the upper portion of the kidney area. This to prevent inflammation and to keep an equal balance with the applications that are given for the system. We would not give the Epsom Salts packs on the same days as the oil packs, see?
7. After at least ONE application of the castor oil packs, we would begin with the manipulations - that will assist in setting up drainages for the ALIMENTARY canal, see? As these are being carried on in this manner, we will find it will be necessary to alter these - and it will be found that at least SOME periods the enemas should be used to remove the refuses throughout the COLON, following same with a small quantity of OIL injections as foods for the intestinal tract; that is, those of the colon themselves - especially in the descending and lower transverse colon - see?
8. In the matter of the olive oil taken internally - this would be the only thing, unless a mild sedative is taken when the body is in pain. This may be necessary to resort to at times, but keep as far away from it as possible, and let same when used be in the form of codeine, which is of the milder form of narcotics or hypnotics, that will have the least effect upon the system. Do not take unless absolutely necessary, but take as much of the olive oil as ASSIMILATES. Should the body begin to belch same, then discontinue, see - but it may be taken half a teaspoonful every two or three hours - and keep this up for a week, two weeks, and we will find - will the body assimilate it - this will cleanse the system, and cleanse these conditions and these aches and pains and headaches that occur, and that come from this disorder where there have been pressures through this area in the lower hepatic circulation.
9. Do that, and we will find - we will see response, will this be applied in a systematic and consistent manner. Do not OVER exercise the body, but necessary that some be taken - as much in the open air as possible. Ready for questions.
10. (Q) How long at a time should the oil and salts packs be applied?
    (A) The oil packs, it would be well that these be put on in the evening as the body retires and let them remain over the whole evening - see? In preparing the oil packs, we would take a piece of OLD flannel - not new. Dip same in the castor oil - have sufficient to cover the whole liver area, and reaching down over the lower portion of the duodenum, see - across the area of the gall ducts and the gall bladder, see? Also extending down across, far enough to cover those of the lacteal glands, see - so that assimilation is stimulated by these, and these should be put on as hot as the body can well stand - but directly next to, or directly on the skin itself - kept warm. They may be kept warm by electric pads, but be sure in each application that the cloth is freshly dipped in the oil, see? and not so much wrung out that there is not any of the property itself, but just dry enough for it not to be too messy, or too disturbing, to be RUNNY over the body - see? but these may be covered with other cloths, so as to keep it an near in place as possible. These, then, may be cleansed off in the morning - and we would begin the manipulations; these should follow during the same days that the oil packs have been given. On other days (these would be preferably in the evening also, but AFTERNOON instead of evening - else we will have too much disturbance with the kidneys, you see) the Epsom Salts packs would be applied - and at least two applications made during each treatment, see? low over the abdomen or bladder neck, high over the kidneys - see?
11. (Q) How long should they be kept up?
    (A) Until they are cool. Make two applications.
12. (Q) What oil should be used as injection?
    (A) Olive oil, or it may be a mixture of olive oil and Russian White Oil - half and half - these would be well. Not over half a pint, used as injection following high enema or colonic irrigation.
13. (Q) Please outline the diet for one day.
    (A) Any of those things that are easily digested, for these change with the conditions in the system, and that are non-acid in their reactions - the fruit juice diet and green vegetables. Little of the meats, but those that will assimilate for the body.

1. 2/23/30 Son's letter: "I would like to have a Physical Reading for my mother [4982] who has been suffering for a while, and now she has been ill for ten days. I hope you will be so kind as to let her have a reading as soon as possible, as Mrs. [255] has recommended me to you, also my brother-in-law, [53], who is coming around so good. I hope you will be so kind as to let her have the reading to see if there is any help to relieve her."
2. 3/09/31 Son's letter verified appointment and submitted questions:
   "What is the trouble with [4982] in sickness? What can be done to help body? Does body need operation? Could body stand operation? Will diet help body; if so, name diet. Will body be cured?"

REPORTS

1. 6/13/31 Son's letter: "Just a few words of thanks which we owe to you and Dr. Berger for helping my mother [4982] in such a short time. After her ailing for many months of pain and having had the effect for years, this is the first time I have seen my mother [4982] to be herself in a great while. She tried before to be that way but through pain. She says she feels ten years younger and just like another woman. Those Castor Oil Packs and Salts Packs are wonderful. She has had no pain in about two months, so it must seem wonderful to her, as if she has just been born over, as she was getting these [attacks] every day. I am the son who is writing this letter because my mother [4982] is not such a writer, but these words are coming from her own lips and she knows how she feels. So we all thank you over and over again... If there is anyone who is in need of great relief, we sure will recommend them to you."
2. 1/31/34 Mrs. [4982]'s other son [503] obtained a Physical Reading.
3. 2/04/34 Mrs. [4982]'s son who first requested her reading obtained a Physical Reading for his young son, [508].
