This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5029], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions as I ask them.
2. EC: [After repeating suggestion in an undertone] Yes, we have the body here, [5029].
3. As we find, there are many disorders and disturbances, but most of these are pretty well understood, except as to what first caused the disturbances. For many of these have come from exterior injuries; as the fractures in the structural portions of the body. All of these arise from these disorders.
4. First there was the lack of proper circulation in the heart's activity, in the circulation through the central nervous system, which in the greater part arose from a plethoric condition existing in the colon; that caused the first heart disorder, and the pressures produced on same caused the first disturbance. These, combined, make rather a serious condition.
5. If there is quiet, with persistent and prayerful application of those things suggested, we find that we may create a better equilibrium throughout the body.
6. First we would begin having colonic irrigations, about 10 days apart until five or six good colonics have been taken - or continue these until there is no mucous indicated in the stool.
7. After the colonics have been taken we would begin with the grape juices for the reduction of weight and for better assimilation. Four times each day, about 1/2 hour before each meal and before retiring, take 2 ounces of grape juice (Welch's) preferably, with an ounce of plain water.
8. At the same period, we would begin using the Radio Active Appliance for an hour each day, preferably in the evening. Do attach the same plate first each time. Do keep the attachment plates very, very clean. Cleanse before attaching and cleanse when taking off.
9. During this hour let the entity keep in prayer and meditation, with these thoughts being put into the body's own words:
   KEEP THIS BODY-MIND IN ACCORD AND IN TUNE WITH THY DIVINE PURPOSE FOR THIS BODY AND MIND AT THIS PERIOD IN ITS EXPERIENCE. LET THY PURPOSE, THY IDEALS, THY HOPE BE MINE AT THIS TIME.
10. Each day when the Radio Active Appliance is removed, give the body a massage to stimulate superficial circulation in head, neck, through the body where the paralysis prevents the body from better activity. Use this combination of oils:

    Olive Oil................2 ounces,
Peanut Oil...............2 ounces,
Lanolin (melted).......1/4 ounce.

    Begin at the side of the head, each side, going around the temple, around the mastoid area, under the chin to the point of the chin, down the neck and along the spine, along on the spinal area as well as on the sympathetic nervous system. It should require at least 30 to 40 minutes to give the body this thorough massage. Massage at the brachial center, following out the nerves. This should be done in the neuropathic manner; that is, following the trunk nerves along the whole torso and the extremities also.
11. Do this daily and we will find that, if the diet is kept in accord - refraining from a great deal of starches of any nature, yet just sufficient for body-fuel and body-strength - having a great deal of leafy vegetables - we will bring better conditions for this body.

13. (Q) What should be done for tired feet?
    (A) All of this combination indicated. The use of the equalization of the flow of circulation will aid. While there will not be felt any vibration from the Radio Active Appliance, until it has been kept for some little time, we find that it will equalize the circulation and bring rest to the body. Do put the Radio Active Appliance in the ice 20 minutes before it is attached to the body. Following the treatment with this each day, there should be the massage with the oils, which should include the feet, as well as other areas requiring superficial stimulation. After a month or two there should be the repeating of the colonic, you see, to relieve pressures on the heart, as well as on the torso; that is, after the first series of colonics, leave off a month and then have another series.
    Do that.
14. We are through with this reading. [In most cases when EC reached the end of a reading he would say, "Ready for questions". In this case however, he did not do so.]

BACKGROUND

1. 9/14/43 Letter: "To Mr. Edgar Cayce. Please Mr. Cayce, send me information about the readings or if you have any leaflet literature, if you can't answer me same day of receiving the letter, at least answer the postal; when you do, I will have my answer. Very truly yours."
2. 11/17/43 Letter: "I am very interested in your method and ways of curing and helping people. I have read about them on many occasions. I am very anxious to get a reading from you. I firmly believe that you will diagnose my case in the right way, what may help me a great deal. Following my desire to get your reading, I have tried to get in touch with you and have written to you 2 letters. I have however, not received your reply, what I regret very much. However, I am trying again and hope that you will answer my present letter, and particularly the following questions: (1) Whether I have to come in person in order to get the reading, or if this can be achieved by writing through a letter? (2) If I should come over, would I have to wait for a next, and for how long? (3) What is the price of a reading, whether when I come in person or through the mails? I would like to remark that I am not a rich man, and will appreciate if you will quote me a reasonable price. Please answer me as soon as possible. I will be very grateful to you." [Letter typewritten, apparently by a friend.]
3. 1/11/44 Letter: "...In your letter as well as your literature you are pointing out that the many and various cases that are awaiting your consideration are taken up by you in the line of next, and only emergency cases are given your attention immediately. ...I believe and I hope that you will agree to it, that mine is an emergency case which requires immediate consideration, and I will appreciate very much if you will not let me wait a long time, but attend to it in accordance with the principles pointed out. I believe very much in the method and in the way you are curing and hoping that you will help me. I am leaving to you to decide as to the emergency of my case, and for that purpose I find it necessary to give you particulars as to my troubles:
   "(1) How should my skull be treated? (2) A part (the left side) of my head is paralyzed as a result of a hit. How should this part be treated? (3) I am suffering on insomnia.
   "A slight noise awakens me. How is this to be treated? (4) How is my heart trouble be treated? (5) How is my left shoulder be treated for proper function? (6) My left hip hurts me. What is the treatment? (7) My feets are getting tired very much. What is the treatment? (8) My entire body is getting tired, so that I have to stay mostly in bed. (9) my blood is watery. What is the treatment for intestines and stomach? Also inside in anus? (11) I have to pass water (urine) very often. (12) Due to accident (fall from stairs) my fingers of hands and feet hurt me. What is the treatment? (13) I am overweight. I would like to reduce myself. (14) What is treatment to strengthen my memory? (15) What is the treatment for baldness? (16) What is the treatment for Dandrof? I would like to emphasize point 2 which is very important for me. I repeat it: A part of the left side of my head is paralyzed as a result of a hit.
   "Remark about point 15 Baldness: I read in a book about a miracle stone with 2 contrasts - if you lay or set the stone on hair, it cause to fall off the hair and never grow again, and if you give this same stone and lay them on a balding place, it grows and bring new hair; this stone is in East India, wonder, wonder, wonder. May I have information where to borrow (or purchase) this miracle?"
4. 1/27/44 Letter: "...That is my hope to have information about a new occupation which I need very much; even in this time I am with no job and work, and then I could wait on the 3rd reading...this is my sincere appeal to you, and I am an orphan, I hope you will understand my bad spelling..."
5. 2/13/44 Letter: "...I send before some questions by points, numbers, my own diagnosis, if you did not destroy them. Can you make any use of them? This is my simple letter of good spelling..."
6. 4/17/44 Letter: "I send in short words my symptoms, diseases, questions. I suffer, my skull - left side - head and the nerve paralysis - head. Unusual fatigue from the hips - my left hip - shoulder, left; overwork. Poor blood, anemia; heart disease; stomach - water; overweight; bad memory; baldness; very bad body fatigue. My remarks again: My left side of head is very paralyzed; advise for my finger joints, rackings; check teeth, I don't like to pull them out. I have a very uneasy sleep and I suffer insomnia. I guess this is plenty enough for my physical reading; till here is my own diagnosis. I beg and pray by the Creator for a full healing from the grief, affliction, troubles and groans and sigh. I hope the best and good help. For my mental reading, joy, delight and gladness."

REPORTS

1. 5/10/44 Letter: "...If you could not make all my readings now you should return my fee of my readings and know also that I have no use for physical reading, less I have also my life and mental reading. I am a poor man..." [Life Reading was not given because there was insufficient information on his date and place of birth at that time.]
2. 5/16/44 GD's letter: "...You had a complete Physical Reading outlining treatments which should help you greatly if you follow them. I trust you will do this. If you do not know how to go about following your reading, I suggest that you get in touch with Dr. Reilly of ..., N.Y. I am sure he will be glad to advise you..."
3. 5/22/44 Letter: "...I am tanking [thanking] you for your advis [advice] to start my treatments and also your recomodation [recommendation] to Dr. Reilly but I feel to make another appeal to you to find a way to help me, at least this is not my fault... I am feeling you a 2nd time I could not do anything with my reading even with your good recommendation to a experience physition [physcian] to go around with the reading, it is hard for me to explain to you the reason. I hope you will be glad after you will make me this time at least one. The life reading I could wait with the mental reading. One of the best of your 30,000 readers."
4. 7/04/44 Letter: "May I have this question with my life reading the 8th of August P.M.? Q. What is the suggestions you have for my bald head to grow new hair? Q. What shall I do to improve my memory? Mr. Cayce, have you a advice what to do where to get the radio active appliance? This is the reply from Mr. A. M. Godfrey, Norfolk, Va. I haven't the material to make up one of these Appliance."
   R4. 8/07/44 GD's letter: It is with regret that I must tell you we will not be able to get your Life Reading on August 8... Mr. Cayce has been forced to take a rest..."
5. 1/04/45 Letter: "Please Miss Davis, I want to ask the favor to send me the $40. I need them very necessary. Thank you. Please send me the booklet 'Common Cold'."
6. 2/07/45 Booklet, notice of EC's death and refund sent to [5029].
