BACKGROUND

6/28/44 Husband's letter: "I think we should have a Check
Physical Reading for my wife. We have followed instructions
given in her first reading, and I believe she shows marked
improvement in health and mental condition. She is still
living with my son at ..., Fla. My son's wife asks the
following questions: (1) Would diathermy help? (2) What
wave length and where apply? (3) What general medication for
good of the body should be used? I believe I have nothing to
add to the above questions, other than the question as to
whether or not she should be made to come in contact
with people?..." [The additional questions submitted are at
end of 5048-2.]
7/10/44 EC's reply: "We are very pleased to know that your
wife is responding to treatment so satisfactorily. We have
made an appointment for her Check Physical on the morning of
July 19, 1944. Unless you notify us otherwise by wire, we
will assume that she is at ..., Fla..."
7/11/44 Husband's letter: "...I feel that my wife is ready
for some change in treatment. She resents the massage
treatment very much, and I wonder if it should be advisable
to discontinue them for a while. I hope the Check Reading
can be had in the very near future. Very best regards."
7/13/44 Husband's letter: "I have your letter of July 10
advising that you are planning the Check Reading for my wife.
Mr. [
849] said you were planning to come to Fla. the first
week in August... I'd like to do some fishing with you."
REPORTS
7/18/44 EC's reply to husband's letter: "Thanks for yours of
the 13th. When I received your letter about your wife, I
thought we'd better undertake to get her check reading
sooner... I do hope this works out all right. I don't know
if it will be possible to change my program. If I can get
away, or can get a reservation, I hope to arrive by the 31st.
Maybe we can have a day or two of fishing..."
