TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, what a funny little body!
3. We have the records here of that entity now known as or called [5070].
4. In giving the interpretation of the records as we find them, these we would choose from same with the desire and purpose that this information may prove a helpful experience for the entity, enabling it to better fulfill those purposes for which it entered this particular experience.
5. For no entity enters by chance, but with those spiritual desires for the completing of its preparation through material sojourn that it may be one with that chosen as the entity's ideal.
6. Remember, God is not mocked and whatsoever an individual entity sows, that must it also reap.
7. If there is drawn an analysis from the material sojourns and the realms of consciousnesses in the various dimensions between the material sojourns, these we find somewhat as the characteristics in the personality and individuality of the entity:
8. One who finds that when it meets individuals, it forms its opinion right now and it is mighty hard to change.
9. One who has, in the activities, a liking for nature, but soon grows mighty tired of the country. It will succeed in its activities better where there is the hub-bub of a city. The activities in meeting individuals are drawn through kindred thought and purpose, and the entity doesn't care very much about those who don't think like she does! These are innate and manifested in the individuality and the personality of this entity.
10. Astrologically we find Venus, Mars and Jupiter are the ruling forces in the innate entity, or the manner in which the entity thinks.
11. In Venus we find the appreciation of nature, and yet the entity doesn't hold very much to it; the beauties in harmony and in song or music, yet this should not be the life's work, but make the home as the life's work, for you should have a lot of little folks to take care of, and if you make that an activity in city surroundings, you'll have your hands full!
12. There should be as in Jupiter, Mars and Venus the using of the abilities as in music and song for the entrance into, and activities with the associates of the entity in the environs which should be created by what is chosen as the ideal or who is chosen as the companion. For you'll have a hard time keeping him in line, in his activities!
13. As to the urges arising from the material sojourns: These come oft at variance to the urges in the astrological sense or the urges from sojourns in other consciousnesses, yet these need not cause the disturbance if the ideals of the entity are set as in harmony, peace and most of all in creative forces and energies. These, if they are kept in the way of motivating the activities rather than the material motivative forces, will bring much more harmonious experiences for the entity.
14. As to the urges latent from the sojourns in the earth, these have been quite varied. As indicated, not all of these will be given. For these are as the pattern and the variations in the cycles and the application of self towards creative forces. For as indicated, ye enter not by chance but are chosen. Then use, don't abuse the opportunities which are thine in the journey through this experience.
15. For in the experience before this, we find the entity was near to those activities in the land of the present nativity during the periods of activity in what is now Chicago, then known as Dearborn.
16. Thus the environ of Chicago should be the place of activity in the present. These areas will bring more harmonious experiences. While other and smaller places may appeal for the moment, they, like the country, will grow sour on the entity.
17. In the experience there, we find the entity found great disturbances with the happenings just before and after the activities in which most of those peoples were routed from the area.
18. The entity remained, for it could make friends with the French as well as with the Indians, and proved to be in the actions which gave helpful forces to those peoples.
19. Hence those who have had strange experiences, those who are unusual, cause wonderment for the entity, but not particular interest. For it grows dim as in the activities of the entity itself.
20. Don't, then, become too self-conscious as you were with the associates in that experience, as Clairneburn.
21. Before that the entity was in the land joining the Holy Land, in the disturbing factors. In the church in Laodicea were the activities of the entity. While among those who only heard of the disturbances there, yet into these were the abilities of the entity cast as one who attempted to hold together the church by psalm singing.
22. And this should be the character of helpfulness in which the entity may administer the greater in its music and its song; distasteful in the beginning, yes, but in applying self, ye may find that these may bring the greater attunement to the influences that are creative, not merely in church, but in the daily living. And you'll need it in the home to keep harmony!
23. In the activities the entity gained throughout the greater portion of that experience, bringing helpfulness to the spreading of the work of the church through those areas in those periods.
24. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as or called the Holy Land when there were those enterings with the peoples who came into the land from the Egyptian land.
25. The entity then was among the sisters of Rahab who made for the entertainment of the spies who were sent into Jericho, and was among the few who were preserved because of the kindnesses shown.
26. As the entity may find in its experience in the present that: Indeed the cup of cold water given in His name, ye will in no wise lose thy reward.
27. For in that experience the entity was among those accepted into the tribes of Judah, and the sister became physically a lineal mother, or her lineal descendant became physically the mother of Jesus.
28. In the experience then, the entity learned, wonders, and trusts in the name Jehovah, through the ministries of Joshua, in the name then Adjar.
29. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land during those periods when those activities in the Temple Beautiful were at their height, periods when there were the preparations of individuals for motherhood, for those activities to be used for the building of the homes later.
30. The entity then was one holding a station in the Temple Beautiful, a teacher, an instructor in the art of living, of caring for body, of preparations for the varied activities through the experience in the earth, in the name then It-Elan.
31. As to the abilities of the entity, then, that to which it may attain and how: First (and this means first) study self. Know what is thy ideal spiritually, not merely by thinking, but write it on a piece of paper and you'll find, though you'll make a long list in the beginning, it should gradually center only into three things. Ye will find a mental, a material and a spiritual ideal, and that these are one.
32. In the application of self: Be true to self and self's purposes, self's ideals chosen.
33. Do make the home the career, for this is the greater career any soul may make in the earth. To a few it is given to have both a career and a home, but the greater of all careers is the home, and those who shun same will have much yet to answer for. For this is the nearer of the emblems of what such soul hopes eventually to attain, a heavenly home. Then make thy home as a shadow of a heavenly home.
34. Ready for questions.
35. (Q) Considering all factors would it be wise to spend next year at ... College?
    (A) If that's a good place to learn how to build a home, do it; if it's a good place to learn how to entertain, forget it.
36. (Q) Where should I plan to complete my master's degree?
    (A) In Chicago.
37. (Q) What were the past associations with the following: What are the urges from these associations, and how may they be used for mutual development of each in the present? My husband [3188]?
    (A) These would be best to be drawn as parallels from the activities of each in the earth, and as to what were those activities, and what ye find as emblems of an outside effort in the present. You know how to use them. Are they to be used constructively? For these were in Egypt, they were in Persia, and thus find interest. Can you hold it or hold him?
38. (Q) My mother-in-law, [2946]?
    (A) In the activities in the Holy Land. These were quite close in that activity. And yet fell out one with the other.
39. (Q) My mother?
    (A) In the experience in the land just before this, and quite closely drawn together.
40. (Q) My friend [1523]?
    (A) Knew of her, not very good in the experience before this. Trusted her in the experience in Laodicea. [See 5/44 Letter under 1523-16 Reports.]
41. (Q) My brother, R. B.?
    (A) We don't find him associated in the activities.
42. (Q) My brother, R. Y.?
    (A) In the experience in the Egyptian land were the closer associations.
43. (Q) My brother R. S.?
    (A) In the experience in Laodicea. Here you find a feeling towards this entity, you don't feel for the others.
44. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

1. Mrs. [5070] lived in Virginia Beach at the time and had been referred to Edgar Cayce by her mother-in-law, Mrs. [2946] and by her husband, the Rev. [3188].
2. 5/06/44 She submitted questions, all of which got asked at the end of the reading.

REPORTS

1. GD's note: Mrs. [5070] worked in the A.R.E. office for a while, both as a volunteer and as a paid employee.
2. 8/17/44 Letter: "...That filing I learned to do in your office is holding me in good stead. I'm working in the Dean of Women's office at ... College. I am also taking dictation and typing letters..."
3. 2/25/46 Letter: "...My husband [3188] is choir director in a Lutheran church in ..., Mass., and I am organist... a choir of 150 voices."
4. Card to GD: "We're on the move again..."
5. 12/48 Letter: "...I sing daily in the superb 62 voiced Cappella girls' choir which has been developed here... I won't go into the number of times I've sat down to dash off a note. Yes - babies are responsible. They're fun and exciting and lovable, but so demanding on one's time..."
6. 7/08/49 Letter: "...It would seem that after 6 years of moving (only 17 times) and studying and having babies, we're going to settle down at last. We've been staying at ..., Mich... I have been minding babies, singing in the ... Choir, and participating in a musical function or two during the year..."
7. 8/51 Church paper: "...One of the nicer things about having Mrs. [5070] is that she is not only a director, but also sings in a very beautiful contralto. Of course, it's nice that she also plays piano and organ... She is not only a charming person, but is also the kind of musician the church is fortunate in having around."
8. 7/04/52 Letter: "...My reading states: 'Do make the home the career, for this is the greater of all careers.' I needed this command, for there is much within me that would seek fulfillment outside the home and I have been 'running away' from my real responsibility. Not often in actual activity outside the home, as in envy of others in responsible positions outside of the home, and in not being able to put my whole heart into my real career... I have decided I must work it out now, so I'm working hard and gaining ground... I am learning how to make my home as my reading so beautifully puts it, 'A shadow of the heavenly home'..."
9. 10/68 She visited A.R.E., saying she has four daughters and a younger son. She has kept up with her music, playing both the piano and violin, has remained active in church work with her husband and children, but has devoted most of her time to trying to be a good wife and mother.
10. 11/18/73 She wrote: "I am finishing up work on my Master's this term and will probably be ordained [as a minister] in the Spring."
11. 9/12/74 She wrote: "We [husband [3188] and [5070]] are finally getting our business with the church in focus according to our reading. Anyway, it is the closest we know to do to answer to the Creative Forces." [GD's note: An announcement was enclosed of a small non-profit research and academic center, listing The Rev. [3188], Ph.D., Director, and The Rev. [5070], M. Div., Dean of the Graduate Collegium.]
