This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5072], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes. As we find with this body there are applications being made that do not portend for any real help. These may allay the disturbance, but it will eventually be in a much more violent form unless the sources or causes are eliminated.
3. This arthritic condition is not of an inflammatory nature as yet, but rather that tending toward becoming static or plastic to the limbs and the segments of the spine.
4. First we would purify the glandular system, setting up better activity through the thyroids and all the glands of the body, by taking Atomidine. This we would take one drop in one-half glass of water each morning for five days, then rest five days, then take again for five days and rest again, then take again and rest again. This may appear to be more of a disturbance at first than a help, but at the end of the third period on the fifth day, take five drops, then on the following day have an Epsom Salts bath.
5. This bath should be almost a saturated solution, which would be about twenty pounds of Epsom Salts to fifty gallons of water, and this should be hot and kept hot while the body is in the bath and there should be kept up during the bath a constant massage to the limbs and the small of the back. This should be kept up during the twenty or thirty minutes the body is kept in the bath.
6. When the body is taken from the bath and is rubbed off or showered off, rub with equal portions of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil. To every 2 oz. of Olive Oil and 2 oz. of Peanut Oil, add 1/4 oz. of melted Lanolin.
7. Do these regularly. That is, after beginning the baths, allow about five days (but do have the oil massage every day), then begin with the Atomidine again, taking two drops now each day for five days, then on the fifth day take five drops, then follow this by the Epsom Salts bath. This makes about 2 weeks from the first bath, see?
8. Do this until about three or four of the baths have been taken.
9. When the third bath has been taken, begin with the short-wave electrical treatments between the bath and the massage. The short-wave should be about 4 amps. and should be given to the lumbar and sacral areas one time, and to the brachial areas the next time.
10. In the diet keep to fruits and vegetables rather than flesh, although fish may be taken, and if so, let it be salt water fish, not fresh water fish. Never take any fried foods and when seasoning use just as little salt as may be practical for the food to be made palatable.
11. Do these and we will bring better conditions for the body.

13. (Q) Am I absorbing poison from some source, or does my system lack something that should be supplied?
    (A) It is rather the lack of glandular activity.
14. (Q) Are my teeth alright?
    (A) It is a pity but what the rest of the body was just as good.
15. (Q) Shall I discontinue the present treatments?
    (A) Read what has just been given.
16. (Q) What can I do about my hearing that is gradually growing very much worse?
    (A) If we will follow these through, especially the good massage, and when the massages are given, give them in the upper dorsal and through the cervical, around the head, over the antrum and over the mastoids, and we will find we will improve these. This is a beginning of a prolapsus of the Eustachian tube, so in the areas under the jaw on either side, let there be strong massage with the oils. We will help this a great deal.
17. (Q) Should the treatments be given by a masseuse or osteopath?
    (A) By either.
18. (Q) Does my husband, who was a physician, have any word for me?
    (A) Just as has been given.

I have been doctoring for arthritis for 3 years, not sick in bed, but suffering a great deal of pain most of the time, and it is growing worse. Will I have an offer to sell my home, and if so, will it be wise to sell while everything is so unsettled, or better to hold it? Thanking you for any help you may be able to give me, I am..."
3. 10/31/43 Letter: "...I am very anxious to became a member so that I may make an appointment just as soon as possible... If I were to come to Virginia Beach, would you be able to see me? I have prayed so earnestly for an appointment and that the Lord would direct you in helping to free me from this disease. My faith in prayer leads me to feel He will find a way to answer this prayer of mine..."
4. 4/29/44 Letter: "At the time of my appointment, I shall be in my bedroom at my home ..., Pa. My questions are as follows: (1) What is causing the arthritis that I have had for nearly 4 years, and what can you do to help me? (2) Shall I continue with the ertron capsules, or with the vitamins that I have taken? (3) The x-ray shows my teeth to be all right, but are they? (4) Shall I change doctors and take the gold treatments; go to the arthritis doctor in Pittsburgh, or continue with the physician who is attending me now? If the latter, how shall he treat me? (5) What can I do about my hearing that is gradually growing very much worse? I did take some treatments from a specialist, but my doctor says they will help very little, and may cause other trouble. I pray that your power for good may bring me relief from pain, and thank you with all my heart and soul for any help you may give me." [The additional questions submitted are at end of 5072-1.]
