This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce, at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [5083], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, J. Fitch, Stenos.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5083].
3. As we find, there are disturbances which cause weakness through the general activities of the body. These are in addition to the deterioration which is the natural result of lack of replenishing of activities in the body, owing to the destroying of energies by the lack of the glandular system being able to supply, from that assimilated, the proper amount of rebuilding energies for portions of structural body, as well as the energies in the nerve and muscular forces.
4. As we find, if there would be used the multiple short-wave oscillator, we may so change the central nerve and blood supply causing such coordinating reaction as to bring better energies to the body, through this applying of coordinating activities in glandular system, blood supply and the activities between the nerve system.
5. These then, we would do.
6. Ready for questions.
7. (Q) Any advice regarding diet?
   (A) The body is a very good dietician and may supply those replenishing foods needed for the activities with this changed vibration in the system.
8. We are through with this reading.

(Your Life Reading appointment is the afternoon of May 24th, 3:30 to 4:30 O'clock. Be sure to send us a list of questions you wish to have asked in the reading.)

BACKGROUND

1. 7/30/43 Letter: "I would appreciate it very much if it were possible for you to give me a reading regarding my physical condition. If at the same time you could spare the time for a Life Reading, it would be greatly appreciated. Wednesday and Sunday would be the only days I could sit with you for the readings, as I do not work in the office these days. I read 'There Is A River' and enjoyed it immensely. Sorry I did not know you when you were going through your trials and tribulations. I may have been of great assistance to you at the time. Some time when this world conflagration is over, I would enjoy a visit with you in the field of spiritual light and wisdom. There is much that we have in common, yet there is a gulf - or seems to be a gulf - from what I have read in the book. Hoping to hear from you."
2. 8/13/43 Letter: "Received your literature, examined same... I desire to have all 3 readings. At present the physical is important, as I am only able to put in 3 to 5 hours a day. My services are in greater demand, especially during these times. Not only would I appreciate this service from you, but those whom I serve would be grateful..."
3. 8/20/43 Letter: "If I remember correctly, I requested a Physical Reading. If the appointment for May 11th is for a Physical Reading, keep that appointment. Notify me and I will send check for same. According to your letter, you are making a Life Reading that same afternoon. Is that right? Now, for the present membership that I have, would it be possible to have a spiritual reading before then, or are you booked up on those until May 11th? It is not necessary to refund the check; hold same to be used at your earliest convenience. If there is an additional charge for the other reading, let me know."
4. 8/24/43 EC's reply: "Our appointments show that your Physical Reading is for May 11th, from 10:30 to 11:30, and your Life Reading 3:30 to 4:30. We have no appointment for the Mental-Spiritual Reading. The first open period we have for this, is the afternoon of May 24... We do not make a charge to physicians for Physical Readings..."
5. 5/04/44 Letter: "I will be at my residence on May 11, ..., Ohio. [No questions were submitted for this reading.]

REPORTS

1. 5/22/44 Letter: "Received your report on my Physical Reading which I appreciate very much. It explained my condition just about the way I had it analyzed. Have been looking for the report on my Spiritual Reading which was to have taken place on the same day from 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. I cannot understand why I have not had a report of the Spiritual Reading. Kindly advise me as to whether you took a spiritual Reading or not. I am prepared for the Life Reading on the 24th of this month..."
2. 5/24/44 GD's reply: "We did not get your Mental-Spiritual Reading, as we did not have any particular questions; and usually this type of reading is approached when there are definite problems to be solved concerning the manner of one's individual development. Mr. Cayce thinks that it will be better to wait a while until you have studied your Life Reading and have formulated specific questions to have asked in such a reading. Please let us hear about this, and we will make another appointment."
3. 5/24/44 EC gave the Life Reading, 5083-2.
4. 3/21/50 Questionnaire sent.
5. 4/29/50 Reply to questionnaire: "Chief complaint mental and physical exhaustion, beginning 1943 and 1944; still exists at times greater than - then. Intensity depends on depletion of patients whom I contact. Physician's diagnosis and treatment: mineral and vitamin deficiency; it helped a lot. The multiple Short-Wave oscillator produced a greater soreness of tissue and fatigue; had to discontinue. Plenty of rest, minerals and my sittings have done more for me than the Oscillator."
6. 2/15/73 GD's note: See Dr. [5083]'s reply, to A.R.E. COOPERATING DOCTORS QUESTIONNAIRE, under 5083-2, indicating that he is still active in his practise and still using the Cayce modalities.
