This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, Miss [5091], Active Member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [5091].
3. In giving the interpretation of the disturbance we have here, there are all phases of the body, mind and spiritual purpose to be taken into consideration, if there would be best help obtained for this body.
4. Know first that all healing must come from creative energies or forces, and that the application of mechanical or of medicinal properties is only the answering of a physical or a mental application of the law in respect to the principles involved in the individual disturbance in the body, else there would not be those disturbances as to cause separation of the body, mind and soul from a material experience.
5. In this body we find there has been the after effect from a condition existent some time back, when there was an attack of what is commonly called flu. This at the time settled or produced greater inflammation through the alimentary canal, and the inflammation has caused the areas, through which lymph flows for the colon activity to have a form of colitis.
6. This pressure is that which upsets the body at times, as in any great activity, as in the varied forms of movement of the body, as in travel, causing the radial activity of this inflammation to upset the body.
7. There are also those pressures in the upper dorsal and cervicals which are a hindrance to the circulation through the organs of the sensory system, particularly the eyes.
8. We will find, then, these administrations should be for this particular disturbance for this body.
9. First, we would have prepared this: A Fusion of Wild Ginseng, which for this body would be two or three drams in six ounces of distilled water. This should come to a boil but very slowly, and then boiling for a minute, then remove. Let cool and strain. This, then, would be kept as one solution.
10. Then prepare a Fusion of Wild Ginger, which for this body would be one-half dram in two ounces of distilled water. Each of these should be crushed before they are put together to make the solution. This boil for a minute. Set aside and strain.
11. Then add these two solutions to four ounces of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin, adding one-half ounce of grain alcohol.
12. The dose of this would be one teaspoonful morning and evening.
13. We would take at least once a day, a little bit later twice a day, the head and neck exercise.
14. Do this and when we are through with the adjustments (twelve) begin, and not before, and use the violet ray with the eye applicator. Use one-half minute just before retiring at night. Use the double eye applicator. In the morning we would cleanse the eyes with an eye wash - Murine. This used in an eye cup and then sponged off, we would find we will bring better conditions for this body, [5091].

16. (Q) Are there any special foods or herbs that would increase and keep my body in good working condition?
    (A) Herbs we have given. The foods: We would use oft watercress in the diet, and carrots. These taken raw, and beets often in the diet. Carrots oft prepare by scraping. These may be taken with celery and cooked, but scrape or grate and prepare them as a salad in gelatin. Do that.
17. (Q) How can I equalize my weight and keep it so?
    (A) By following these suggestions we should keep the weight very well equalized.
18. (Q) How can I modulate my voice so that I do not jar on people's sensibilities?
    (A) As has been indicated a portion of the disturbance is from those pressures upon the organs of the sensory system. With these corrections we should have made in the dorsal, upper dorsal and through the cervicals (and about every other treatment coordinate the 9th dorsal and the lumbar areas with adjustments made in the cervicals and dorsals) we should be able to control the voice as it is desired. Part of this is practice.

BACKGROUND

1. Miss [5091] requested six readings, three for herself and three for her friend, Mrs. [5089]. All six readings were given within a period of one week. Such a procedure was unusual, and could have been due to the great pressure which existed during 1943 - 1944. Readings given within one week to three months from time of request, were sometimes referred to as "emergency" readings by EC. Such classification appears here, although apparently without justification in this case and that of Mrs. [5089].
2. 9/27/43 [5091]'s letter to EC: "...I have read only a part of your book, but am so intrigued with its contents that I am writing to find out the cost and method of procedure of the readings..."
3. 10/23/43 [5091]'s letter: "...My friend Mrs. [5089] and I have come to Utah, having followed Light guidance and also trying to regain our health. We have been fortunate in finding a soul who, similar to yourself, is able to tune in and get certain help from the Light Source. But right now, we seem to be stymied, and would more than appreciate your Light help. Our main desires are: To know His will for our lives today; to be able to commune with the Higher Powers directly; and to improve our physical health. My friend has a back ailment, and her eyes are not so good. Mine is very bad eyesight and a weak stomach. Having perused your booklets, I hasten to tell you of our eagerness for the three types of readings... We leave it up to you to arrange the type of reading and the order in which you prefer to give them, also time for each. When you write the dates, if you will let me know the cost of the three readings, together with pamphlets on 'Meditation', 'Arabian History' and 'Egyptian History', I will reimburse you gladly...awaiting with eagerness your letter giving us the first reading date..."
4. 10/28/43 EC's letter to [5091]: "...We are giving you these appointments right along together and classifying them as emergency readings. The first reading for yourself is the afternoon of May 21, 3:30 - 4:30 EWT. The next morning, May 13, 10:30 - 11:30 EWT, the Physical reading for your friend, Mrs. [5089]. The afternoon of May 13, your Life reading. The Life reading for your friend, the morning of May 15. The Mental-Spiritual reading for your friend the afternoon of May 16, and for yourself, the Mental-Spiritual reading the afternoon of May 15..."
5. 11/06/43 [5091]'s letter: "...Am in receipt of your letter of October 28, giving the reading dates for my friend and me. Naturally, we were disappointed to find the dates were so far distant, even though classed as 'emergency.' I had no idea you were so crowded. Am enclosing our questions [Enclosure not on file] for the various readings... Looking forward with more than eagerness to receiving our readings..."
6. 11/09/43 [5091]'s letter: "...I've worked for the Travelers Aid Society in ..., N.Y., in the publicity and finance departments. I was not the head, but did most of the work, as there were nine persons in and out of the job during my stay with Travelers Aid. Also am a graduate of the Biblical Seminary in New York..."
7. 12/20/43 [5091]'s letter: "...Guess the letter with the questions for the readings must have.gone astray, so am enclosing duplicate copies for Mrs. [5089] and myself. As I said before, would more than appreciate your being able to move Mrs. [5089]'s Physical reading up... However, we marvel at all you are doing daily, and would not wish to put anyone else out... If I can help in a small way to put before the public your messages, life won't seem so useless at this time. And I feel you have the 'Real' which is so badly needed... 1. What can I do to restore my sight to a normal condition? 2. What is the cause of headaches when traveling or doing special work? Both my eyes and stomach get upset which result in a terrific headache..." [These questions were submitted, in addition to those asked at end of 5091-1.]
8. 1/10/44 [5091]'s letter: "...Will be only too glad to wait our turns, for the more literature we receive the more convinced we are as to the Rightness of the work..."
9. 3/21/44 [5091]'s letter: "...I broke my glasses and having a peculiar eye condition, have been unable to get the right lenses out here. The glasses I got only make my eyes worse, so I am trying to cure them through the Bates method. Right now, I can't see with glasses, and I can't see without them... I may have to go back to New York for lenses... I want to wait until after the readings..."
10. 4/27/44 [5091]'s letter: "...This is just to let you know that Mrs. [5089] and I have come east, and we both expect to be in ..., Pennsylvania from May 12 through May 17, the dates for our readings..."
