This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, Miss [5215], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by book, There Is A River.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. As we find, there has existed for some time back a disturbance through the alimentary canal that has periodically brought on a great disturbance throughout the whole of the system; upsetting especially the liver, and conditions for these have been as an inflammation in the colon.
3. These arise, as we find, from the effects of influenza, or flu of the intestinal tract, especially the colon; colitis, inflammation in the area of the ascending and prolapsus in the descending colon. This has not entirely been eliminated and the effects of the poor eliminations causing neuritic and arthritic tendencies in the extremities.
4. We would first prepare as this: a fusion of Wild Ginseng, 2 ounces; fusion of Wild Ginger, 1/2 ounce; this we would add to three ounces of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin, with one-half ounce of grain alcohol.
5. Shake this together and take one-half teaspoonful every four hours.
6. Begin with a relaxing treatment osteopathically administered through the lumbar and sacral areas and make those specific corrections which will be found necessary in the 6th dorsal centers, coordinating, of course, the brachial centers and cervicals with corrections made. It would require about sixteen to twenty-four of such adjustments.
7. Then be mindful of the diet that there are not too many sweets; no foods prepared with much vinegar or such natures.
8. Doing these, we will find that we will have much bettered conditions for the body.
9. Do keep the eliminations well. These would be preferably corrected by a series of colonic irrigations to clarify the whole of the colon area. Use all of these with soda and salt as a purifier and Glyco-Thymoline as an antiseptic in the last rinse water. Do not give these more often than ten days apart; after the clearing of colon from mucous, then at least thirty days apart until there is no mucous in the stools. And we should find much bettered conditions for this body.

   "...Ever since last summer while reading THE HANDLES OF POWER, I have thought God would help me but little did I think it would be through you, whom I had never heard of. I took the reading to my osteopathic doctor and she is arranging for me to have a colonic next Saturday as specified. I also sent the slip to the address given for medicine. I am trying to follow directions. My doctor's name is Dr. Julia Krech [D.O.]. She is very interested..."

   "...I am having trouble at this time again, with proper eliminations. I am taking besides colonics, the last one still showing small amount of mucous, enemas under osteopathic's direction, both with oil and water. If I may ask a question, what is the best method, and when this medicine is gone, what do I do about it? The enemas I take are Wesson Oil ones. The others, plain tepid water using one quart of water..."

   "...It was with regret I read of the death of Edgar Cayce. I had a Physical reading...and have tried to follow his directions as to medicine, high colonics and osteopathic treatments. The colonics twice a month, and the osteopathic treatments same. I purchased the book, There Is A River, and as a result, have taken several Epsom Salt baths besides going to Magnetic Springs, Ohio, for 14 baths, and using the liniment prescribed made of Olive Oil, Russian Oil and Tincture of Myrrh. Would you send me any material on Colitis that you have? I am thinking of going to Saratoga Springs for Christmas vacation, unless you think the steam baths which I can obtain in ... anytime, would serve the same purpose..."

6. 3/23/47 [5215]'s letter:
   "...I haven't fully recovered from my trouble similar to rheumatism, brought on by colon trouble mentioned in my reading... Do you think you are in a position now to advise me what to do to clear up the trouble? I am doing all in my power, taking mineral baths and massage, ultra-violet rays and taking medicine prescribed besides taking Vitamin B-1 Complex..."

8. 4/26/47 Julia Krech, D.O.'s reply to Physician's Questionnaire:
   Chief Complaint: "Pains in arms and shoulders." Physician's Provisional Diagnosis: "Postural upper dorsal lesions, including 6th dorsal; also balance due to improper shoes." Physician's Final Diagnosis: "Colitis and the above." Readings's Recommendations: 1. "High colonics until clearing of mucous." 2. "Osteopathic treatments: 16 - 24." 3. "Medicine put up by Wirsing of Roanoke, Va." Duration of Treatment: "2 1/2 years." Results of Treatment: "Cured."
9. 3/02/48 [5215]'s letter:
   "...I received the pamphlet on arthritis and am going to follow the directions. I have a tendency for this trouble, and am under the care of a doctor who is giving me thyroid tablets as a result of a metabolism test. He would like to know the iodine content of Atomidine. I am writing to New York to make arrangements for a cabinet bath each week. Am hoping I can get them to fall in line with suggestions given as to Atomidine and witch-hazel in the bath, followed by Peanut Oil and Myrrh rub. I give myself two of these each week. I feel better already, in spite of miserable weather. Since my trouble is caused by flu injuring the colon, do you think almonds injurious? Am so sorry I can't have the cabinet bath out here. The health center is so busy they won't bother with witch-hazel and Atomidine. Again, as to food, eggs are included, are they not, and milk?..."

    "...Sorry I didn't get a reply from you regarding the Atomidine mentioned in the pamphlet on arthritis tendency. I am taking thyroid and do not know if I should take it internally..."

    "...I followed directions, taking osteopathic and cabinet treatments. I have had lots of trouble since first of the year; having a colitic spell. As I couldn't eat, an anemic condition followed. Am taking iron now and am better, but find lots of mucous in the intestines. In the pamphlet on arthritis, it mentions taking Atomidine. I managed to find it 2 years ago, but afraid to take it. I was under a doctor who gave me iodine tablets. I am under another physician now, and all I take is iron. Do you think I can start the Atomidine?..."

14. 3/29/50 Comment of Julia Krech, D.O. to E.C.F. solicitor: "A great soul; very faithful about coming for the treatments. I had already started making the corrections before she was given the reading. I found that the reading coincided with my diagnosis. [5215] responded to treatment. Since then she developed a thyroid condition. I have not seen her for about a year."

16. 8/04/57 Letter from [5215]:
    "...I have followed directions until lately; haven't had osteopathic treatments. I realize elimination is a great factor for my well-being and would you suggest from experience with all your father's cases what is best to do about this?... The mornings seem to trouble me so much. Do you think the sand at your beach would help?..."
17. 10/23/67 [5215] requested name of druggist who could fill the Wild Ginseng tonic recommended in her reading; also Dr. Harold J. Reilly's address:
    "...I have fairly good health but still have arthritis-like pains and must watch my diet somewhat.
    "Am anxiously waiting to hear from you. I always felt Edgar Cayce saved my life..."
