12/18/51 Letter: "I first heard of Edgar Cayce and his
unusual power through some advertising of Theosophical
literature. I ordered THERE IS A RIVER from the Theosophical
Society to read. Later I bought my own copy and have loaned
it. As soon as I read that book, I knew I was going to
appeal to Edgar Cayce for physical help, though the newness
of the idea caused me to delay my request for a few months.
I regret that he did not give my life reading, as my name
was on the unanswered waiting list. I did not take the grape
juice as outlined. I was in a place at the time where it was
not very convenient to keep a supply, and I had the feeling
I was not getting the desired results. I took 24 osteopathic
treatments. I do not know whether they helped. I showed
the doctor the parts to be treated, but I doubt if he
paid attention. I thought he followed his regular routine
treatments. I did wish at the time that I could have the
treatments by one who was in sympathy with the reading. I
did allow rest periods as suggested, as best as I could. The
shock was an emotional upset, partly caused by a half crazed
principal with whom I was unfortunately working after my
thyroidectomy when I was weak. In his mental weakness (he
had suffered severe mental trouble and I had of necessity
filled his office), he had the idea I wanted his position
and was more than unjust and cruel. Other than that, I do
not care to discuss the problem. I learned that a shock to
a weak physical body can be very damaging. I did the eye
exercises, but I stopped. I think other conditions helped
to weaken my eyes. I used the castor oil packs exactly
as suggested. My appendix has caused me almost no trouble
since. Thanks for that. Last year when I had a Barium test
for stomach ulcers, the doctor asked if I had had my appendix
out. The appendix treatment was worth it all. My present
trouble is weakness caused by a heart ailment, mostly the
blood vessels. The place on eyelid was removed by use of
an acid, a harmless removal."
