10/26/43 Letter: "...I make a very small salary. I owe
doctor bills, dentist bills and I need so much to go to the
dentist now... My daughter and I need clothes, etc. I'm
not making ends meet. But, that at times, seems the least
important of my worries. I feel that I'm not guiding her
right in life, yet, I try so desperately to do so. Nor, have
I done so for my son, or it seems that he would have turned
out a different person from what he is. I also need a
physical reading. I am not well and can't seem to feel
better physically. I realize that part of my physical
troubles are caused from mental worry. I feel that I have
butted against brick walls all my life, yet I've tried to do
the right, frantically tried. I prayed for my marriage and
hope not to be broken up, yet it was, maybe for the best, but
I still can't see that it was. I would so much like to have
a home and a husband... I need some kind of work that I am
better fitted for and where I can make a living, yet I don't
have any idea just what that might be..."
11/03/43 Letter: "...I am enclosing an application for a
Health Reading. I have wondered if I shouldn't have it
first... If I don't get some help, some guidance, I'll
go crazy..."
5/09/44 Letter: "...Can you tell me in this reading where I
am supposed to try to live to make some kind of a nicer life
for myself and daughter. Needless to say, I would like to
make a real home for her, as well as for myself, and I don't
know how... I would like to do anything and everything
possible to make this reading a success, something to help
me do something different in life. I seem to have muddled
through the whole thing, not because I didn't try either; I
don't feel that I can possibly afford additional readings. I
really can't afford this one but it will be well worth it if
I can get some help as to what to do and where to do it, and
I'd like to know how to do it. At my age, it is a little
late to try to do anything much, I suppose, but I would
certainly like to. Should I leave Washington? If so, where
should I go? I would, I think, like to marry and have a real
home. Do you think that is possible or probable? How?..."
REPORTS
6/26/44 Letter: "I received my reading... I can't
understand it, I'll admit. And you didn't answer the
question as to whether I should remain in Washington. I was
very anxious to know that. If there is any literature that
will help me to understand my reading, do please send it to
me... I really am anxious to understand it... Did you make
another appointment for me - a physical reading?
P.S. The reading was so short and no questions were even
asked. Of course there may be nothing to my life, there
certainly hasn't been so far."
6/28/44 Letter from EC: "...Sometimes there are
opportunities for a great many questions. At other times,
for what reason I do not know, when it has finished with the
first suggestions and has gone over the whole experience, it
closes without giving the opportunity for question... "
7/28/44 Letter: "...I am anxious to have a physical reading,
even though I didn't understand my Life Reading. That
doesn't mean that there isn't something to it..."
1/22/45 Letter: "I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Cayce's
death... He helped so many in his life."
