This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [5304], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5304].
3. As we find, there are disturbances and these are as though the activity of the liver, heart, lungs and kidneys lack sufficient energies, as it were, to keep the central organs, as the battery of the body, charged sufficiently. And thus we have the periods of nerve exhaustion, upsetting of the circulation, shortness of breath, diversions in the assimilation, those irregular conditions which come from a disorganized functioning of liver and kidneys as coordinating channels for eliminations of poisons from the system; a general debilitation, not senility; that is, lack of or destruction of the gray matter for brain's reaction, but rather the slow pulse or quick pulse and lack of sufficient energy of the circulation to push, as it were, the blood through the whole system.
4. Thus the metabolism of the whole organization of the functioning, the low, low blood pressure, all of these are from lack of energies in the system.
5. Here we may add energies by the low vibrations from the Radio-Active Appliance which uses the energies of the body rather than other influences. These are only active when attached to the body. These would we use when ready to retire for one hour.
6. We would also use the Wet Cell Appliance but in this carry Gold only to the body. The larger plate is to be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center, which on this body would be the width of four fingers from the navel center and three fingers up from that point. The small copper plate is to be attached at the 9th dorsal center.
7. Follow this with a massage. The massage should be equal portions of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil. This would be well if it were over the whole body, but more around the face, head, and neck to the area between the shoulders. Then from the small of the back, or from the 12th dorsal to the end of the spine, the more thoroughly there; though feet, ankles and the whole of the lower limbs, along the spine and across the abdomen, around the head and neck, and across those areas of upper portion of the shoulder blades, collar bone area. Massage all the body will absorb, sponging off or showering off the excess, each day that is used. And use it at least three days each week.
8. Each evening when ready to retire do use the Radio-Active. This should be prepared at least twenty minutes before it is to be attached to the body; to the right wrist, left ankle; left wrist and right ankle, and so circulate the body. Be sure the same applicator is attached each time to the body first.
9. In the matter of the diets, keep well balanced, adding more through those periods, or supplement the regular diet with, the B complex vitamins, or excess energy vitamin which is not stored in the body. One-A-Day brand will be well to consider.
10. And for those activities which will reduce the tendency for obesity, take three ounces of grape juice with one ounce of plain water four times each day, thirty minutes before each meal and before retiring, and not too great a quantity of foods but a well balanced diet.

13. (Q) Why do mental depressions and fear seem also to be a part of whatever is wrong, and yet why should I feel so depleted and weak?
    (A) The incoordination between the central nerve and blood supply to the sympathetic nerve and blood supply.
14. (Q) Are psychic experiences in any way responsible for this condition growing steadily worse in the last six months?
    (A) Only as the entity entertains same. This, though, is why both the low electrical forces are used. Thus when there is the Radio-Active daily for one hour, use this as the period for meditation and let this, though in thine own words, meet the needs as the prayer and then listen the rest of the period. If the body does drop into a slumber it is alright, don't try to stay awake but take the Radio-Active off at the end of the hour, but this is the prayer:
    OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN! HALLOWED BE THY NAME! AS I COME TO THEE, O GOD, SEEKING TO BE A BETTER CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS TO OTHERS, THROUGH THY POWER AND MIGHT AS WAS MANIFESTED IN JESUS, THE CHRIST, OPEN THOU MY HEART, MY MIND, MY PURPOSE TO THAT THOU WOULD HAVE ME DO AND BE, AND AS THE CALL COMES FOR SERVICE MAY I ANSWER EVER, "HERE AM I LORD, USE ME."

BACKGROUND

1. 2/44 Letter: "I had Infantile Paralysis about 43 years ago, but had osteopathic treatments then and have been assured I have no dead muscles. There is a difference about 1/4" in my two legs, the right being shorter.
   "Last Fall I began having pains all over my body, and extreme feeling of weakness and inertia. Mentally I felt very depressed - which is unnatural for me. I began to fear even to leave the house. Now I cannot walk a block without great effort and must do it slowly. If I must stand for a while I become very tense and rigid and feel I cannot move at all. This is a great handicap in my work.
   "I feel cold all the time and have always had low blood pressure. This winter, I had the flu for 2 weeks and now seem to have the same symptoms continually recurring at intervals. I was away for 2 weeks right after Xmas, but have worked every day since, altho I feel I am simply dragging myself painfully around. My left elbow is stiff and painful, my left knee the same. There is also a continuous tight, aching sensation in my shoulders and neck.
   "I am considerably overweight, and am trying to diet it slowly away, by staying on fruit, vegetables and lean meat and fish, but so far have had little success.
   "I realize that you cannot 'mix' physical and other kinds of readings but I have feeling that my physical sensations may be tied up with psychic experiences I have been having. Therefore, I hope to have all your kinds of readings as soon as I can, as it seems to me that in my own case the spiritual, mental and physical are connected." 1. Why am I so languid and lacking in pep and energy, and why do I experience such stiffness and tension when I try to get around?

REPORTS

1. 7/17/44 Letter from [5304]: "It is very curious that most of the recommendations made are things which I am exactly doing. Namely: the massage with olive oil, and the taking of B complex vitamins and grape juice. Definitely my weak spots are all specified, and this is interesting. The matter of the two appliances recommended is of course new, and I shall have to work on this, as it seems expensive, but I will try to follow it out."
2. 8/10/49 GD requested Report. 8/16/49 Answered as follows:
   "I was unable - for financial reasons - to secure the appliances recommended. The interesting thing is that I was aware - strongly aware - of a VISITATION of some kind from Virginia Beach. I was aware of an examination of inspection of some kind. At the time I wrote for the reading I was ALREADY having the peanut oil - olive oil massage, taking B-Complex vitamins and grape juice. Had been having the massage for some time - so it was like some kind of telepathy. I can report these results: I have much less pain and weakness. Definitely I have overcome the mental depression and fear."
3. 8/27/49 HLC wrote A. M. Godfrey re. lending an Appliance to Miss [5304] so she could begin the treatment.
