6/14/44 "We have been giving him osteopathic treatments for
about a month in the hope that they would be of some benefit.
However, the convulsions became more frequent and more
severe. I seemed to have an intuition that the treatments
were doing harm rather than good and discontinued them. The
convulsions have ceased to come on so often and are less
severe. He did have as many as 4 or 5 a day, but since I
discontinued the treatments he has only 1 or 2, some days
none at all and they are very light. I do not know if it was
the strain of taking him on the city bus for the treatments
or the treatments themselves, or either, that effected the
number and severity of the attacks, but he is much better
when he is kept quiet.
"[
340] told me of your Study Group and suggested that we ask
you to pray with us for him. My husband and I would like
very much for you to help us in this, the greatest trouble
we have ever had. We do so want our little boy to be normal
mentally, even though he might be physically handicapped.
1. Why does he not use his right hand? 2. What can be done
to correct this condition? 3. To promote the development of
his brain? 4. Should osteopathic treatments be given?"
REPORTS
9/17/44 Letter from [
5305]'s mother: "[
5305] is slowly but
steadily getting better. He still has a long way to go
before being a perfectly normal baby, but he is so much
better than we ever though he would be...he has had 10
adjustments and will have 6 more which will be completed
about the last of October... He can say several words and
we have taught him to do several little tricks, which show
us that his brain is continuing to develop...the convulsions
are much lighter and less frequent."
