This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of August, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5397], new Associate member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, as we find, conditions are far advanced. If there is to be help, it must be with patience and with prayerful application of all of those tenets and truths which bring a consciousness of at least trying to use the energies which are given to self for the betterment of others.
2. Here, we find the locomotories, especially, have been and are in such states of tautness as to prevent their use. Also portions of the spine are involved.
3. These measures will be painful, but if they will be followed through, we will find relief. The attitude, though, must be kept ever constructive, creative, in its relationships, and not condemnation of things or individuals.
4. First, begin to take small quantities of Atomidine - one drop in half a glass of water - every day for five days. On the sixth day, take five drops; and that same day, though at least three hours after taking this, have an Epsom Salts Bath. This should be at least twenty pounds of Epsom Salts to forty gallons of water; and while the body necessarily will have to be placed in same, there should be the massage given the limbs (especially in the locomotories through the hips and small portion of the back; the knees; the feet; the elbows; arms; shoulders) through the whole period. Have this just about as warm as the body can well stand, without causing too great a distress. Keep an ice pack on the head during the time the body is in the bath.
5. When taken from the bath, massage thoroughly, all the Peanut Oil into the body it will absorb - the spine and the limbs, especially.
6. Rest for at least five days from these, and then begin again, and for five days take one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water before any meal is taken of a morning; and again on the sixth day, take five drops; and again the bath in the Epsom Salts, at least as heavy as that given at first. Then have the oil massage.
7. Following these, begin with the low electrical treatments, as with the radionics, as from the radio-short-wave. Keep these for at least a month, and then the third of the Baths should be prepared, and this (the Atomidine) taken for five days, and on the sixth day, the larger dose, and the massage throughout the period in the Bath.
8. The diets through these periods should be more of the raw vegetables, especially watercress and carrots; lettuce and celery. The juices of these should be taken quite often throughout the day. Not too much quantities, but just sufficient to prevent the body from finding it abhorrent or intolerable to take so much juices. Have easily digested foods.
9. Massage over the abdomen; and keep better eliminations. These will bring helpful forces for the body.

11. (Q) How may I get my bowels to be active as should be?
    (A) Only through taking that which is easily assimilated, and, as has been indicated, massage occasionally with the acid - as grape acid, see? that is, Tartaric Acid. This will cause movement of the bowels. But not too long - not too much! It is best to apply the Tartaric Acid in a cloth or gauze over the abdomen, this just patted on. Cover, and then allow to remain for ten to fifteen minutes. Then remove, and gently massage the bowel with Peanut Oil. These will cause movement. If necessary, repeat and let it remain a little longer, but don't get them so they will be started and then not be able to stop. Beef juices taken in the diet will give strength; also liver and cereals, especially combinations of barley and wheat (as in Maltex). Wheat germ oil would be well for the body, or this may be taken on the cereal in the form of the wheat germ.
12. (Q) What should be done for little place on nose?
    (A) Don't irritate this too much!
13. (Q) How may I get rid of fear of closed places?
    (A) The attitude must be kept as to that of helpfulness in the spiritual forces of the body - within and without.

1. 3/07/44 Letter: "Arthritis is all through my body. It is gradually getting worse. Last summer had it in feet so could hardly walk. Terrible time having bowel movement. The doctors must have done something wrong in three pile operations, as I never have a natural desire. Takes 1 hour with straining, and have to use my finger, put on rubber finger, and even with all this unless I have eaten Dr. Robert Jackson's meal, no result." 1. How can I be cured of arthritis? 2. Could swelling of hands - joints - and big toe joints be reduced?

1. 10/17/44 Reported she was unable to find an electrotherapist who would give her the treatment; she had been taking the Atomidine for a short time but could as yet see no difference.

3. 12/16/63 GD's note: Atomidine is atomic iodine, discovered by the late Dr. Sunkar A. Bisey, manufactured by Schieffelin and Company, New York. A few years ago it was taken off the market except for external use. It is not widely distributed. We have been able to obtain it from Ingram Pharmacy, Virginia Beach, Va., for $1 a bottle plus postage. However, it should only be secured for external use unless otherwise advised by the physician.
