12/16/29 EC's letter: "...I don't know how to tell you how
much I appreciate yours of the 9th, not merely because you
suggest that you are going to make a contribution to our
work here, but for the nice things you intimate and suggest
regarding our undertaking. I at least feel within myself
that I am sincere in trying to be of help, and I am sure
that the effort is appreciated by those who are seeking aid
through these channels, and I am sure, too, those on the
outside are able to judge as to whether these efforts ARE
sincere on my part or not. Naturally, we appreciate it
when one tells us they appreciate what we are trying to do.
"I am certainly glad that Mrs. [
337] is feeling lots better.
We were not able to get in a reading for her today, as I have
been out for some time myself, not feeling good, and we were
not able to get the check-up - but we will on the 23rd, if
she so desires. Tell her to make a list of questions and
give us the address at which she will be during the time
she knows the readings are taken - Monday morning, the 23rd.
Then it will tell her not to eat too big a Christmas dinner,
I am sure.
"I want to thank you for the piano. We haven't heard from
it as yet, but it no doubt will be coming in very soon. We
are, of course, all looking forward to Mrs. [
337] being back.
While we don't want her to be ill to come back, you know, Mr.
[
5417], we have all come to love her here, and we hope that -
if it is necessary - that she will want to be back. We just
hope and trust that we may be of help and service to her.
"Certainly glad to know you are feeling fine. Please
remember us to [
5416], won't you? Again thanking you, and
we all send our kindest personal regards, ever the same..."
12/16/29 Letter: "...Enclosed you will please find Bill of
Lading for piano shipped to your Hospital on December 16th.
I trust that this piano will arrive in time for Christmas and
also hope that you and all your members of the Hospital will
like same and enjoy it. It is my privilege to donate this
to the Hospital, as stated in one of my previous letters, as
Mrs. [
337]'s, [
5416]'s and my association with you people has
been one of the most pleasant and it is really a privilege to
have you class us amongst your many friends.
"Wishing you the compliments of the Season and again wishing
to advise you that Mrs. [
337] will be with you on January
6th, as she expects to leave here the night of January 5th,
and know that you will make her stay as pleasant as you have
in the past, I am..."
12/31/29 EC's letter: "...Just a little note to again thank
you for the piano. It certainly is proving a pleasure and a
joy to all in the Institution..."

5417-4, a business reading, for which Mr. [
5417]
was present.
