11/02/30 Daughter's letter to EC:
..., N.C.
Dr. Edgar Cayce,
Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Dr. Cayce:-
About eleven o'clock Monday morning, Oct. 27th, my mother,
Mrs. [
5433], had a stroke of paralysis affecting her left arm
and left leg and the right side of her face. She had
suffered from an attack of facial paralysis twice before,
once about 1925 and once about 1900, each time recovering
completely.
Her mind is perfectly clear. She is on a liquid and soft
diet, is extremely nervous to the extent that morphine is
necessary. Her kidneys have not acted naturally until last
night and bowels have responded to cathartics and enemas, but
no natural move.
She has expressed the desire to recover even tho she cannot
use her limbs. The mental atmosphere in her presence is most
cheerful, her nurses have been selected for tenderness as
well as ability, her doctor has been chosen by herself from
the three called in on her case.
She has had no osteopathy as yet. All of her daughters are
in the house with her. Her temperature is 99 degrees and has
never been above this. Her blood-pressure was 220 the day of
the stroke and dropped 20 points the first 48 hours and 10
points the next, 10 points the next and now holds at 170.
She wept the first time she saw her daughters upon their
arrival, but since is not affected by their presence.
She is of an unusually religious nature, unostentatious
character, and has lived a life of pure unselfishness. Has
had eleven children, raising six of them and has been a widow
for eleven years.
Seven and one-half years ago she lost her only grandchild and
three years ago, her youngest daughter. She is sixty-five
years of age, born August 12, 1865, in Craven County, North
Carolina.
She has watched her diet carefully in regard to red meats for
fifteen years, and has lead a very active life.
I am inclosing check for twenty dollars ($20.00) and will
appreciate it very much if you will kindly give her a reading
as soon as possible and advise, by wire, the treatment you
find necessary.
Very truly yours, Miss [...]
