8/16/26 Letter: "...Mr. [
1565] of the firm of ..., of ...,
Oklahoma, gave me your name as one who helps people in
distress, as I am.
"Last October I suddenly became depressed, perhaps it was
toxic poisoning. After careful treatment I partially
recovered. Then I came down with a stubborn cold that
settled in my nose and my right ear had a buzzing sound which
had to be blown through. After this cleared up, a noise in
my head commenced and the many doctors failed to relieve me.
This is my left ear and 20 years ago I had a mastoid
operation which removed the ear drum but have not suffered in
any way until last year (October or November). The medical
men claim it is the inner ear which is giving me trouble, but
they don't help me; consequently, it is wearing on my nervous
system. I have no pep, feel very miserable, and my dear wife
is suffering in sympathy. I have done everything possible,
at present attending a clinic because I no longer can afford
to pay the regular fee to the doctors.
"Can you help me in my problem? I am 52 years old but feel
much older. The depressing thoughts I have do not leave me,
although I try to make the best of it. The last two weeks I
spent in the country, a very quiet place, and felt fairly
well there but today, back at business, the good the change
did me seems to lose itself.
"An expectant, anxious man awaits your answer..."
REPORTS
9/19/26 Letter: "...I am deeply grateful for the reading
which I am convinced is uncannily true. Will endeavor to
carry out faithfully every suggestion in your letter.
Earnestly hope enclosed check for $20.00 will, in a small
measure, show my appreciation. Will report to you as soon as
condition takes hold. In the meantime, please accept now my
heartfelt thanks for the message of courage..."
11/04/26 Mrs. [
325]'s letter: "...Mr. [
5459] said that his
reading was helping him so much. He is the man that [
1565]
sent to you for a reading..."
10/19/26 Reply to questionnaire: "...I followed out the
suggestions as given in my reading of September 16th
implicitly and, while my general bodily condition has
improved, there is no diminution of the head noise which is
very distressing. I sought out one of New York's most
prominent osteopaths - showed him the reading, but he made
light of the spinal trouble as indicated therein, hinted
there was nothing to it and has given me, for a month,
ordinary treatments including the spine, of course. My diet
is simple and constipation has subsided.
"He, the osteopath, put me on a cereal called Cereal Food,
which is an excellent remedy for stomach and bowel troubles.
I hardly know how to describe my condition. In the evening
the irritation caused by the head noise seems to become
unbearable and I retire early - sleep is my solace - the
feeling besets me I am not getting any better and this
depresses me naturally. I spoke to the osteopath about
applying wet [heat?] to the spine, but he only uses his
fingers on me. It is very necessary that some force be
applied to my intellect to strengthen it, to forget the head
noise is there, and so I live in hopes a way will be found.
Perhaps, Mr. Cayce, you will find the solution. God knows I
need it.
"P.S. I am not taking drugs of any kind..."
11/10/26 Letter: "...Unfortunately, I have not received much
benefit from the reading you gave me on September 16th,
although my physical condition has improved; the noise in my
head, together with the depression, is about the same. The
osteopath who is treating me seems to make light of the
conditions you found in my body and I am not altogether
satisfied with his treatment.
"In the booklet sent me by the Association of National
Investigators appears a copy of a letter sent by the
Secretary of the Osteopathic Society in reference to Mr.
[
551] who consulted him for treatment. This osteopath seems
to have found your diagnosis correct and has helped him
considerably. Perhaps you can suggest a competent man in the
City and I favor one who is best suited to carry out what you
advise in the diagnosis.
"In conclusion, I am intensely interested in your work
because it is truly God's work and I hope to make my promise
good to send you a subscription when funds allow..."
11/16/26 EC referred him to Dr. Eugene R. Krause, D.O.,
in New York City.
5/20/27 He replied to Questionnaire: I followed out the
suggestions contained in the reading given and although my
physical condition is better, I still have the ringing in the
ears which is most distressing and sometimes gives me very
depressing thoughts.
I went to an osteopath here and he did not look with much
favor on your diagnosis which information I gave to you
sometime ago. Recently you gave me the name of Dr. Krause
but up to date I have not seen him. I don't feel as nervous
as I did; on the other hand, when the day is over I am ready
for bed and do not always wake up refreshed in the morning.
As far as I can tell, the noise in the head is nervous
trouble and the doctors do not know how to cure it, so
having had tons of advice and having spent a deal of money
for a man of my humble station in life I have finally allowed
nature to effect her cure.
I know you are interested in my trouble and I am mighty glad
to have known you and if there is any further suggestion to
help me, of course, I shall be eternally grateful. Let me
hear from you at convenience.
5/27/27 EC wrote he felt the osteopathic treatments had not
been given correctly, and that he would be glad to check up
on the case by giving another rdg. "Our records show that
more than 90% of the ones who follow out the suggestions AS
GIVEN get the results promised!"
8/04/27 Letter: "...I derived some benefit from the reading
Mr. Cayce gave me but my recovery is far from being complete
and I have spent considerable money trying to get well. In
June I was treated by Dr. Krause who was recommended to me
but did not find any relief in his treatment. However, I
fully realize the effort that has been made and the much
desired results may come to me later..."
12/01/27 EC met Mr. [
5459] in New York and made another
appointment.
