This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of November, 1927, in accordance with request made by her husband, Mr. [...], via Miss [1916].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce, and Beth Graves.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.
3. Now, we find while the conditions in the physical forces of the body have not improved as the expectations have been; yet we find there are those physical conditions that have not been given the proper consideration in bringing or affecting that condition in the system that would bring about the nearer normal functioning of the body.
4. Those conditions in the right portion of the body, near that of the glands where assimilation, or where the body turns those assimilated conditions into usage for the system, these cause the greater distress in the body. These prevent the body from having that correct condition brought to the nearer normal forces.
5. These now are the conditions as we find them at present in this body: First:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, from that as just given there is seen, while this may not be called a blood condition, yet the condition existent in the blood supply is not satisfactory, for with the poor assimilation in the system there is the lack of the body being able to rebuild or recuperate in the proper way and manner. Coagulation in the system from used portions in the functioning of organs is slow. Hence there are many changes taking place in the body.
7. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this again shows there is distraughtness caused in the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus to the extent that there is improper coordination between the central nerve system and that of the lateral or locomotory centers of the body.
8. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS, these show distraughtness from the inability to function under normal conditions, than of organic disturbances; that is, the organs in their function show the lack of ability through nerve impulse and blood supply to rebuild those used forces in the organs. Hence a weakened condition or debilitation throughout the functioning system, as is seen in the activity of the organs of respiratory and of digestive system.
9. Now, to meet the need s of the conditions of this body:
10. First we would REMOVE the body from its surroundings as soon as the body shows the ability to be changed.
11. We would apply those vibrations of the full general osteopathic manipulation, added with those of the Alpine Ray, for THIS will stimulate the nerve and blood supply for the whole body.
12. Those properties medicinal will be only those that would keep the normal balance in system between the acid and alkaline condition. Not allow the mesenteric system to show over acidity or over the action through TOO much lactics. This may be discovered or followed by the action or the feces from the system. Keep the lower portion of the colon clean by ENEMAS, for this is one of the causes of reinfection and debilitation.
13. Follow this for at least twenty-eight (28) days, giving the manipulations every other day, after the first five (5) are given, and the Alpine Ray every fifth (5th) day, or third (3rd) day for five (5) treatments, then every fifth (5th) day.
14. Let most of the water that is taken carry elm and MAGNESIA, see? Milk of Magnesia, and elm water. These may be alternated, or these may be taken consecutively, see?
15. Keep the system cleansed from impurities in the intestinal system, so that those portions of the body where infection comes from where the body does not assimilate may be removed from the body.
16. In the activity of the manipulation will come strength and rest. This needed for the mental and the physical forces of the body. Do that.
17. When the twenty-eight (28) days have passed from the beginning of these treatments, we would give further conditions for the body.

BACKGROUND

1. 10/27/27 Husband's letter: "Miss [1916] has been telling us something of your readings. My wife [5496] has been in bad health for some years. I would like for you to give her a Physical Reading."

REPORTS

1. 1/30/28 Husband's letter: "...Mrs. [5496] did not start the treatments as prescribed by you in your reading of November 7th, as she was in Roanoke Hospital.
   "For several months before entering hospital, she was taking treatments from an osteopathic physician in Roanoke. He had given her the Alpine Light, also enemas, but not every day - so as she improved so rapidly at the hospital I hesitated for her to resume treatments from osteopath - but about two weeks after returning home, she began having so much trouble with constipation - enemas seemed to be her only relief - so about four weeks ago she began your treatment except the osteopathic and Alpine Light. We do not have them here. On the 17th she went to Harrisonburg, Virginia, and began the treatments and lights as you directed. She thinks her condition may have changed during this wait of two months and would like to have another reading, unless you think she had better finish the other two weeks of osteopathic treatments and Alpine Light. We do not understand just what you mean by 'too much lactics'. Nor do we know how to make the 'elm water'.
   "Will you advise me or give her a date for a reading? I have a few questions to be asked at this next reading."
2. 2/20/28 Husband's letter: "...I am very anxious for this reading as she is in a very nervous state, so much so that I do not know if we can hold her together that long. The principal question is regarding the 'fear habits' she has. They seem to have gotten worse during the last two weeks. I want to know the cause of these and remedy. She is so afraid of germs - washes her hands so often and many other little things of that kind. Could she be going through her 'change of life'?"
