The conditions, as we find, have to do with disturbances as
have been produced by congestion in the organs of the pelvis,
and the pressure produced there more by that of adhesions,
and the results have been those of a form of prolapsus and of
congestion in the descending colon. These are RESULTS from
those contractions and lesions forming, for with thickening
of tissue through adhesion, LESIONS - that PRODUCE irritation
- are the result in THIS condition, Mrs. [
5527] we are
speaking of. The effects are those at times of distresses to
the lower extremities, when the limbs - especially if body on
feet much - as of some swelling, especially in the late
evening; of the feeling of a pulsation along the inside, or
along the inferior nerves as follow the sciatic; the nausea
as comes at times after eating. These are reflexes, and NOT
causes. The headaches and dullness, in feeling stretchy
through the shoulders, with pains through the lower portion
of the right shoulder blade at times, and up to the back of
neck. These are also reflexes from the pressure as produced
in the ganglia of the lumbar and lower portion of the dorsal
region.
In meeting the needs of the condition, to make for PERMANENT
relief, would require that the body - for at least some WEEKS
- rest considerable, WHILE those lesions and adhesions are
BEING broken up; using those of the osteopathic manipulation
and adjustments FOLLOWING the application of HEAT to the
lumbar and dorsal and sacral region; also using those of the
colonic irrigations as to remove the distresses as occur in
colon; using some LOCAL applications in those conditions
existent in rectum, also through the pelvic organs. These
would only be a PORTION of the applications - the local ones.
There should be the relieving of the acidity as forms from
irritation, especially in the lymphatic circulation, and of
the vegetative system - nerve system. These, as we find,
would RELIEVE those distresses, and bring for a nearer NORMAL
condition of the body.
We would also apply, at least TWICE each week, those of the
short ray or vibration of the sinusoidal, that makes for
contractions in nerve plexus; using same - one anode in the
5th to 6th dorsal, the other in the 3rd and 4th lumbar.
These, we find, would bring the nearer normal conditions for
this body. Do that.
For the acidity, we would use those in the form of oil and
agar, or Petrolagar - the non-acid, or the alkalin character.
Also we would use those in the food values that are rather of
the muscular and of the nerve building. We are through for
the present.

BACKGROUND
10/02/29 Letter: "...Will you kindly arrange to give me an
earlier appointment? I would not ask this of you, but I am
in such poor health, and expect to go to some hospital in the
near future. If you find it at all possible, please let me
hear from you..."
GD's note: She had written in September, 1929, for an
appointment. On
10/10/29 EC wrote telling her that if she
could come to Cayce Hospital he could get her reading sooner.
On
10/15/29 she wrote that it was impossible to come to the
Cayce Hospital and she would keep the December 10th
appointment.
12/06/29 Letter: "...On account of important business I will
be at ..., Ohio, on the date assigned for my reading. I may
find it difficult to be alone at that time, so if those
conditions are not consistent for a satisfactory reading,
kindly give me another appointment. However, if the presence
of others in the room with me at the time of reading does not
interfere with results, I shall be very glad to keep the date
of December 10th.
"My special questions are regarding my physical condition,
and if possible the knowledge of my receiving justice in the
litigation in which I am involved. What method would be wise
to follow to obtain my rights?..."
12/12/29 EC wrote that he had been unable to keep her
appointment due to being ill himself and asked if she could
arrange to come to Virginia Beach in the near future for the
appointment.
2/20/30 Letter: "...I shall be detained in Ohio until after
March 17th. If you find it possible to give me a reading
before that date I shall be glad to hear from you to that
effect, but if you do not find it convenient I shall be
obliged to wait until some future time.
"Kindly give me any information you can in regards to this
litigation in which I am interested..."
2/25/30 GD's letter: "...Under the circumstances we feel it
would be better to wait until you come to Virginia Beach
before giving your reading. It is impossible to mix business
questions with a physical reading, and we feel that you do
not understand enough regarding the work to know just what
kind of reading you desire. We felt in the beginning you
wished a physical reading.
"So, we will wait and take the matter up with you when you
return. Please let us hear from you in regard to this as
soon as you return to Virginia..."
6/05/30 Letter: "...I have returned to ..., Virginia, for a
short length of time, and trust you will be able to give me
an appointment within this month. Kindly advise me at your
earliest convenience. It is a physical reading I am desirous
of having..."
6/11/30 Letter: "...There seems to be some misunderstanding
with regards my appointment for a reading. I was informed
that you gave such readings at a distance and in my case it
will not be convenient for me to come to Virginia Beach, as I
am leaving in a short time for an extensive journey. This
appointment has been pending for so great a time, and
conditions seem to delay it even longer. I am of the
opinion, if it is impossible to give me a reading this month
at my present address, kindly return my money and consider
the appointment closed..."
6/18/30 EC's letter: "...It was my understanding, Mrs.
[
5527], when we wrote you that it was your intention to come
to Virginia Beach whenever we could make this appointment.
That's why we wrote you as we did, and we feel it is so much
better when an individual is present - but, if it is
impossible for you to come, and if the Lord is willing and if
my physical strength permits, we will make it on the
afternoon of the 24th. Send us a list of questions you wish
asked, and give us the address at which you will be from 3:00
to 5:00 P.M. on that day..."
6/20/30 Letter: "...Thank you for your appointment of June
24th... I shall be at ... Apartments at ..., Virginia, from
3:00 to 5:00 on that day. I desire a physical reading, and
am most anxious to learn the cause of my suffering in left
side of abdomen and poor health in general..."
