TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [5529] - this we have had before, also those conditions as SURROUND the body. In many ways and manners we find improvements in the general physical forces of the body. In the debilitations, and with those of the general reactions, these are natural with the circumstances and surroundings of the body. We would find BENEFITS would come to the body in the manner of keeping the proper eliminations, more strength and vitality and virility to the whole physical forces, were THESE properties taken for the general system:
2. Take that as is COMMONLY known as Vinol, see? This is called patent medicine, but it's very good for the conditions as it is made for, for just composed mostly of herbs in itself. Take as is prescribed as dosage, save take HALF the quantity - see?
3. Then prepare as this to be taken with same:
4. To 2 ounces of simple syrup add:

   Lactated pepsin............1 1/2 ounces,
Tincture of Valerian...........1 ounce,
Elixir Calisaya..............1/2 ounce,
Tincture of Capsici............3 minims.

Shake this together before a dose is taken. When the dose of Vinol is taken, as three to four times each day - or a dose after each meal and upon retiring; upon retiring, or when there is especially felt that of a nerve debilitation, we would take ONE-HALF a teaspoonful of this preparation as just given, combined with the Vinol - see? DO NOT take an over dose of same, or there might be those tendencies towards hemorrhages from kidneys. We would find that these will add to the strength, the ability to sleep, the ability to digest the food better, and the general activities of the system of the body would be improved.
5. We would REMAIN much in or under the same care and attention, though the place of residence might be changed.
6. We are through with this reading.

REPORTS

1. 11/09/31 Letter: "...I received your letter the 12th of August [enclosing the reading]. I have been taking the medicine and I feel that I have improved some, although some days I feel fine and then in a day or so I feel that I have gone back to where I started from. Certainly the death of my cousin Robert was a great shock to me as he has lived with me so long, and now I have no one to stay with me that I can depend on. I feel that if I could overcome that I would feel better. I would like for you to plan out the way for me that you think best, as I feel that I need help. This is all at the present..."
2. 12/02/31 EC wrote a sympathy letter and offered to make an appointment for another reading, but asked her to fill out a Membership Application in the new Association [for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.]: "...The work is now being studied by a group of sincere friends, trying to be of service to those who may obtain helpful suggestions through these channels. We are trying to get all our real friends to signify, by signing these applications, that they are in accord with what we are attempting to do..."
[GD's note: You will notice that this was shortly after the arrest in New York which made us very careful about getting signed applications before making readings.]
3. 12/07/31 Letter: "...I received your letter - it found me not feeling well and awful weak. I am sorry that I could not fill out the application for a membership of the Association, but as I am not able to earn any money myself and I am a lone widow, I only have what money is given to me. Sorry that I cannot become an Active Member as I feel that your assistance has been a great help to me. Please find enclosed a money order for $5.00 as a little gift from me..."
4. 12/29/31 EC's letter: "...Yours of the 7th finally came to hand. There was some delay, as the postage had been lost off in mail and we had to send for it. I want to thank you for your contribution. You should fill out the Application Blank, if you desire to seek any advice through these channels. It isn't the amount, Mrs. [5529], as it is the willingness to contribute WHATEVER you may be able, and the amount you have sent will obtain the information, whatever we are able to give, as readily as if it were a thousand times that much.
"I trust you have had a very pleasant holiday season, that you are feeling much better yourself, and I assure you it is our desire to be of service if at all possible.
"With kindest regards, and wishing you a prosperous and happy new year, I am, sincerely..."
