9/21/29 Letter: "...It is through the influence of my
cousins [
257] and [
903], from whom I have heard so much
of and about you, I am now writing to you. I am vitally
interested in all that has been told to me and have read
the literature which I have in my possession.
"My life the past eight years has been unhappy and I have
divorced my husband. I have one child, a little girl.
These things I think you should know since we are to
have no personal contact.
"I want a life reading and I now make application for a one
year membership, which is to include my first reading. I am
particularly interested in the future.
"I was born 10/16/1900 in ..., Texas.
"Questions: I am now living at home with, and am dependent
upon, my parents, who are, themselves, experiencing financial
difficulties? How may I become independent? To what
vocation in order to make a success should I apply myself?
Will I marry again? When and where will I meet my future
husband? If I have neglected to comply with any of the
necessary rules and regulations, I shall be happy to
correct my mistakes. I look forward to a reply from you..."
REPORTS
1/30 Letter: "...The days have not enough hours for me any
more. I get up in the mornings reluctantly from a warm bed
in the sleeping porch and I can tell you it is cold this
time of the year. Wash, dress, eat breakfast, but not before
taking a deadly course in the dose of codliver oil and the
day starts for fair. A few necessary duties in the house and
I am ready for my walk. Twice a week I take exercises in the
gymnasium class with a bunch of slightly weighted matrons and
afterwards a swim in the pool. I simply love it and already
feel much better. I eat a hearty lunch and then, just a
little quiet, I go to bed from one to three-thirty. Once a
week I have a massage with the cold water rubbed along the
spine, and I am following your prescribed diet to the very
last piece of miserable tripe. I feel for the first time in
my life terribly selfish but I can make up for that later...
I have written to [
903] to tell me the mixture I am suppose
to use for inhaling - she said that she has it - is it the
same that I am suppose to use?
"My friend [
5477] is awaiting patiently her reading on
February 4. She has not been so well. Her's is a physical
reading and I hope nothing will interfere with the reading
on that day. She has waited for over four months and I too
since what you have told me has meant so much to me, am very
anxious to know what is the matter with her..."
2/17/30 Miss [
5615] reported on readings for her friends
[
5460] and [
5477], saying: "...I am doing splendidly, am
feeling better and do not deviate one tiny bit from the
reading. You would chuckle to yourself if you could see me
struggling to get in a dress that was fairly large a month
ago. I rest a lot and am outdoors as much as I can manage
to be there. You would pat me on the back, I know..."
7/30 Letter: "...I have just come in out of the glorious
sunshine after an hour's ride on my favorite mount and though
I wouldn't win any medals at a horse show, I do enjoy the
sport immensely. I am feeling - how shall I say - on top of
the world... I go along enjoying my life and my dear ones
and happy in the thought of having such friends as you [EC
and GC]..."
3/35 Mrs. [
903] reported to GD that [
5615] had remarried
someone other than the one mentioned in 5615-1, Par. 16-A.
