8/26/29 Letter: "I wish to say that I am eagerly awaiting
the time when I can come to see you. I am now carefully
following the instructions you gave in reading of July
23 with the exception of the mayblossom bitters, which
my druggist is unable to provide me.
"I wish also to report that I am still troubled with light
spells of sudden loss of consciousness and that there is
a slowing up of the digestive organs even with the use of
ragweed tea which you prescribed. This I cannot understand.
"I must now wait until I can safely travel alone before I can
come to see you.
"For relief received, I am, gratefully."
8/31/29 Letter: "I wish to report that my condition is now
nearly normal from following your suggestions in the last
three readings except there is a certain slowing up of my
digestion even with the use of the eliminant you prescribed.
"My attacks consist of a few moments of daze through which
I retain my consciousness and remember my surroundings and
the attack perfectly. The best I can describe it is to say
I momentarily lose control of my faculties. Do you think
this condition warrants another reading?"
9/05/29 Letter: "Though I have not as yet received mayblossom
bitters you prescribed in reading of July 23, I wish to say
that my condition is much the same. My digestion has now
gotten back to its former normal stage.
"While I should like to try the bitters which you prescribed,
my druggist here is not able to provide me with this drug."
10/02/29 EC's letter stated that he hoped soon to be able to
get the mayblossum bitters made up and sent to him.
1/06/30 Letter: "Your pamphlet came today in answer to my
desire to hear from you again and if possible to get you to
name a date for a future reading. Now my condition is so
changed as to merit another reading. The properties you
before named now no longer have the desired effect. I
am much better but as yet I am not cured and I think my
condition calls for another reading. Will you please
name a date?"
1/13/30 EC stated that his appointments were several months
in advance but that he would make an appointment at the first
opportunity.
5/05/30 Letter: "I can say in regards to my condition that
I never expect to be fully cured and I have become fully
reconciled to my life as I am as well as can be expected.
This affliction is the cross our Lord has placed upon my
shoulders and I shall carry it as did my saviour did carry
his cross or in other words 'this chalice my Father has
given me, shall I not drink it?'".
6/23/30 Letter: "I am now on a strictly vegetable diet and
I am trying to get rid of the drosses of which you spoke in
your last reading, about a year ago, by using a fresh and
very good bottle of this ragweed tea as you once laid out for
me. This, together with the other properties, is at present
giving very good results. I would, however, know my exact
condition. You can find me at home...any Monday afternoon
in the future yom see fit."
12/30 Christmas card: "For the health I now enjoy thanks to
you and to God."
7/60 Walter N. Pahnke, M.D.'s notes in preparing a survey
of 96 cases of Epilepsy: Case [
5642] was classified as in
group I. Diagnosis in this case was given by own doctors
as epilepsy from a fractured skull during World War I. The
patient never did describe these attacks in any detail. For
awhile he reported that he felt better after following the
treatments. However, he apparently got worse again after
this. There was no follow up after 1930. The attacks
sounded somewhat like Petit-mal Epilepsy.
