This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the LaSalle Hotel, Room 901, Chicago, Ill. this 10th day of March, 1928, in accordance with the request made by Mr. [5680].

TEXT

1. EC: We have the body here. Now we find there are those conditions that cause distress in the physical functioning of this body. These are of the acute nature and involve the digestive functioning of the system; hence, the eliminating and assimilating system also. These then are conditions as we find them with this body, [5679] we are speaking of.
2. First, in the blood supply, here we find through the disturbance there has temperature been created in the system - not that there is any condition in the blood, itself, of a detrimental nature save that induced through the pure [poor] elimination existent in system caused by this existent in the alimentary canal and especially inflammation in the duodenum with a hepatic circulation disturbed.
3. This not of a serious nature, then; rather one to be dealt with in a manner that will relieve the conditions with the least amount of drosses left in system and the least amount of disturbance to the functioning organs, themselves.
4. Nerve system overtaxed from the inflammation in the system. The organs themselves very good save for that in the digestive system, the duodenum proper and the intestinal tract.
5. The plethora condition exists in the region of the pancrean force or juices; hence the swelling about the umbilical region.
6. The kidneys are not functioning normally. These should not be over-stimulated but should be given that that will relieve the tension on system without disturbing the conditions existent in the liver and its region.
7. Then to meet the needs of the condition at present: 1st, we would give that that would act as a laxative for the system without disturbing the equilibrium of assimilation, creating greater eliminations in the body without strain on any of the system as a functioning digestive organism.
8. We would give then, first, a full dose 1/2 teaspoonful Bicarbonate of Soda. In 3 to 4 hours repeat the dose. Then begin with small doses of Castoria 1/2 teaspoonful every 1/2 hour until the body has relaxed thoroughly.
9. Keep warm packs across the abdomen and lower portion of the stomach and especially over the right side. These may contain that of a saturated solution of Epsom Salts until pain is relieved.
10. Massage thoroughly along the whole of the cerebro-spinal system equal parts of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh. Heat the oil, add the Myrrh, making only sufficient for each application, which should be made, until the relief comes, at least twice each day.
11. Let the diet be only those of pre-digested materials, almost principally that of gruels, cereals, orange juice or such nature.
12. We will find by the rest, by the allaying of temperature, by the treatment as given, in 3 to 4 days a near normal condition. Do that, [5679].
13. Ready for questions.
14. (Q) She has been troubled with intestinal attacks many times in past year. Are these connected with present condition?
    (A) As given, this an acute attack of conditions existent in the digestive system of the body, especially the liver; hence, the application of properties to relieve the trouble, the massage to meet the needs of the condition.
    When these specifics and these acute conditions have been relieved, there may be given that for the proper full correction of existent conditions. Meet that of the acute condition at present.

1. 3/16/28 Father [5680]'s Letter: "...She has shown big improvement and is now sitting up and is expected to get up within a day or two. Will you kindly give her an additional reading at your earliest convenience with suggestions for permanently freeing her from such attacks in the future. She has been subject to severe intestinal attacks with high temperature (up to 104). She had had at least six in the past six months. The doctors have decided that they are psychological following any unusual excitement or repressed emotions. Perhaps in this connection it would be best to give her a physical and mental reading.
   "Questions: The doctor attending her now states that she had pleurisy. Were her lungs or pleural cavity affected? If not, what accounts for coughs which she had and for peculiar mucus which she has been spitting up - yellow with white lumps in it?..."
