TEXT

  1. EC: Yes, we have those conditions - and the body, [5690], at Bryce Hospital.
  2. Now, we find there are abnormalities, there are abnormal conditions in the physical forces of the body. These, as we find, may be termed more of MENTAL aberrations than physical defections. The physical forces, however, that exist in the body, have much to do with the physical and mental inability for coordination as to activities of the physical AND mental body.
  3. There are physical DEFECTS in the cerebro-spinal nerve system. There are also the lacking of elements in the physical forces, as produced by conditions - some a TENDENCY in INNATE influences; NOT as wholly hereditary innate, as much as hereditary TENDENCIES. Then, with the physical defects, these in their combination bring about that as has been called dementia praecox. This an inability of coordination between sympathetic, cerebro-spinal, and the general physical body.
  4. The defects in the elements within the body itself, as we find, may be added TO system through a gold treatment, either taken vibratorially into the system or taken in a soluble form, so that the reactions with the vibrations set up with electrical forces will have the desired effect of producing that stamen [stamina] necessary in the nervous energies and plexus themselves, as to produce coordination - provided, the cerebro-spinal centers are made in accord one with another.
  5. This, as we find, might be best administered in an institution such as Still-Hildreth in Macon, Missouri, or by such institutions that apply both mechanical as well as those of MENTAL suggestion for the body. These, as we find, would be the better conditions to bring about a nearer normalcy in the physical and mental aberrations that appear with this body. Do that. Ready for questions. [5690].
  6. (Q) If these treatments are followed, how long will it take to bring about a normal condition?
    (A) It would require from three to five weeks to eliminate those properties that have been given to produce sedative effect to the nervous reaction and the activities, and from three to five months for the building up where the body would be safe with itself and others, and a normal development - as we would find later on.
  7. (Q) How should the gold be applied?
    (A) Either through the vibratory forces of a low electrical vibration, as in wet battery, or it may be taken soluble solution, see? soda and gold into the system. That, when taken, would necessitate the use of such vibrations as of the ultra-violet ray to make same become active in the system for resuscitation of those elements necessary to create. It may be taken either way. See?
  8. (Q) Any advice to the parents?
    (A) We haven't the parents! We have the body! In different places!
  9. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

  1. 2/20/31 Request by parents, aunt, cousin, who reported he had been in the State hospital a year; violent at times; irrational; doctors thought he might never come out; if taking him out might not be able to get him back in.

REPORTS

  1. 5/06/31 Aunt's letter indicated they were unable financially to send him to Still-Hildreth; also the doctor doesn't think anything is to be gained by sending him.
  2. GD's note: The cousin of the parents indicated to EC that [5690]'s parents were double first cousins; she wondered if that was the inherited body-element condition the reading referred to, although apparently another son and daughter were perfectly normal.
  3. 3/34 GD's note: I visited in Ala. and learned from some of the family that [5690] was now at home and was no longer violent, having spent a long time in the State Hospital. He seemed sort of like a child, very docile, was able to do chores around the house and farm, with others making decisions for him.
  4. 10/79 GD's note: Mr. [5690] is still living and active on the farm, having helped to "carry on" after his brother became an invalid.
