4/14/27 EC's letter:
Mr. [
5714]
..., Oklahoma
Dear Mr. [
5714]
Yours of April 2nd, with enclosure, received. I want to
thank you very much for going into details as regarding
your sister's condition. I assure you that we are very much
interested and certainly hope and trust that we may be of
help and assistance towards her gaining her normal good
health.
I'm sure you realize, possibly better than we can, the
seriousness of her condition. However, if we are to judge
from the information given, while she has continued to lose
in weight, still those conditions as were necessary to be
brought about in getting some portions of the system to
function have been accomplished, and in that respect her
condition is really better. Now, if you can manage it so
that the suggestions as are given here can be carried out, I
believe you will see a real gain in her strength and vitality
from now on. I am in hopes that you will study this very
closely - profit by the experience of the former suggestions,
and try the suggestions along in a way that is consistent
with the conditions as arise by her trying out different
suggestions for her diet - for of course you do not want to
so over burden the system with any one property as to cause
so much disturbance that it would take days and weeks,
perhaps, to overcome the trouble produced by this condition -
but you will have to FEEL yourself along - give just a little
and see how the system will respond to this condition - yet,
as you see, it will be necessary never to allow any food that
she may take to remain in the system too long at any time,
for poisons may arise from same that would be hard for her
to overcome. After you have studied this, we will be glad
to answer any questions that we may be able to, and are ready
at any and all times to give the very best of our experience
towards trying to help out. I certainly feel that you are to
be commended for the care and the attention and interest that
you have taken in your sister's welfare, and I feel that you
both will be rewarded for the efforts as have been put forth.
Please remember me very kindly to her, and assure you that
we will never grow tired of listening at anything you have
to say to us regarding her and her condition. We desire to
help, and we hope and pray and trust that we maybe able to do
so.
With kindest personal regards to you both, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
4/30/27 and
5/02/27 Brother's letters asked EC to outline
specific daily menu. He went into great detail, as usual,
re. his sister's suffering, mentioning especially puffiness
and swelling of face, feet and ankles, sore burning through
whole right side, etc.
5/05/27 Miss [
295] wrote that Mrs. [
5714] died quietly in her
sleep on
5/03/27 about 9 a.m. Her husband had been allowed
to get out of his bed in the T.B. hospital to attend her
funeral, although he was really too sick to do so.
5/09/27 EC's letter to [
5714]'s brother:
I received both of your letters, regarding the outlining
of the menu and diet for your sister, but in this morning's
mail Miss Gladys received a letter from [
295] telling of the
passing away. I am sorry indeed that we were not able to try
to be of more benefit. I know you are heartbroken, but you
know you did everything that was possible to be done, and if
it was God's will that she should go on at this time - while
it is hard to give her up - we must say, as the Master did,
"Not my will but thine be done." I am sure she lived such a
life that you know she is safe in the arms of Jesus. I think
I know how to appreciate the feelings of one who has given
all their thought, care and attention, to a loved one, by
my own experience in such matters; yet I know the loss is so
individual that it is hard for anyone even to say any word
of comfort or cheer; yet I want you to know that I sympathize
with you, and I trust and pray that you will take courage
from her life. Take courage from her patience in long
suffering - for we read, "Even though He were the son,
yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered."
I shall appreciate it if you will let me hear from you from
time to time, and should you ever come East, I hope you will
make it a point to visit us here. I would be glad to know
you in person - for it is wonderful even to know anyone who
can be so patient, so kind, to a body as you must have been
to your sister.
Trusting God's blessings will bear you up, and with kindest
personal regards, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD

My Dear Sir:
Re: Mrs. [
5714]
My Sister passed away last week Tuesday May 3rd. We could
only say this inevitable. It seemed best for her to go as
she could not get strength enough to digest much food.
We thank you for every effort you people put forth to help us
in our need.
Sincerely, [...]
