BACKGROUND

1. 11/12/23 GD's note: EC's Red Date Book lists, in Linden Shroyer's handwriting, a reading requested by Mr. [5717], 3:30 P.M., Hotel Phillips, Dayton, Ohio, on 455 acres of land in Clay County, Tennessee.

REPORTS

1. 11/28/23 Mr. [5717] obtained a Life Reading for his wife, Mrs. [4227].
2. 12/11/23 He obtained a Physical Reading, for his mother, Mrs. [4225].
3. 12/13/23 He obtained a Life Reading, for his son, [4228].
4. 12/17/23 On Red Date Book in Linden Shroyer's handwriting it is indicated that Mr. [5717] had another reading, on "Further information relative to readings on self" and that he was present for the reading. [No copy of this can be found.]
5. 1/19/24 He referred Mr. [4361] for a Life Reading - then called a Horoscope Reading.
6. 3/22/24 He referred his sister, Mrs. [2481], for a Life Reading.
7. 4/09/24 He referred his sister-in-law for a Life Reading - See 3948-1.
8. 11/16/24 EC's ltr. to Mr. [228]: "It is something dreadful when a person is treated as [4121] was by a person [5717] who interested himself in me and in [4121], to get out of him all of the loose money he [4121] had, for my good friend who brought me here certainly did that very thing for [4121] and caused him to lose a good many dollars, as well as nearly a year's time, waiting and fooling along with him, and then finally let him drop after he'd gotten all he could get, but [4121] is a good, clean-cut fellow and I'm sure will make his way and be an effective force among people wherever he may go. I certainly wish that you and he and I and a few others I know, could get to work on this proposition in a manner that would be satisfactory for all, but what we lack is the money to start with and that is the thing none of us have and we'll have to get along the best we can..."
9. 12/09/25 GD's note: Mr. [5453] wrote of how Mr. [5717] had enticed [5453] to Florida with glowing promises and then left him stranded there, with no money, no job, away from his family, etc.
10. The above last two paragraphs [Par. R8, R9] are noted in the way of a report on some of the statements made in Mr. [5717]'s Life Readings - See 5717-1, 5717-2, 5717-5, etc.
11. 11/19/30 Mr. [5717]'s friend obtained a Physical Reading, for Mrs. [2371].
12. 4/11/41 Mr. [...] (saying he was a friend of Mr. [5717]) obtained a Physical Reading, for Mrs. [2478].
13. 4/70 GD's note: HLC told me that sometime ago Mr. [5717]'s daughter attended one of the lectures at an A.R.E. Conference in California.
14. 2/01/71 Former Member Survey indicated his reasons for joining A.R.E., one of which was that he was Mr. [5717]'s grandson.
